I seriously doubt Elsa's gonna get all torn up over warding off an invasion from an army of hulking, menacing-looking men looking to rape and pillage, at least enough to turn to the dark side. Mim pretty clearly has more options here with her magic, whether it's as a mentor or if she influences her other ways.

Rumble 17733 Squirrel Girl vs. The Grinch
DSkillz replied to Movie-Brat's topic in CBUB Unrated Rumbles
Eh, I think Squirrel Girl could thwart the Grinch's theft whether she turns him on Christmas or not. In fact, I think Doreen might have better physicals than even "His heart grew three sizes that day!" Grinch. -
Eh, I have a feeling that Elsa would effectively squash a potential invasion with her powers before it has much chance to get off the ground. Sure, there may be some causualties along the way, but Elsa would have warded the Huns off with the best of intentions. Besides, armies from the Dark Ages and before tended to be pretty superstitious and fearful of curses and the like, so the sight of Elsa conjuring up extreme cold would likely scare off a lot of the Huns as they start to march into Arendelle.

That's not even close to the point I was trying to make, lol. My point is that, seeing the destructive potential in Elsa, and knowing how much she revels in seeing evil done, there's a good chance Mim would try to do whether it takes to try to sway Elsa, even if that includes reigning herself in. Besides, being a fellow magic user, Mim can at least offer to mentor Elsa in better controlling her abilities. This is something Shan Yu can't do. Haven't seen Mulan in full, but from the glimpses I caught of Shan Yu in the film, I got this impression of him as well. I have played through Mulan's world in Kingdom Hearts II, though, and Shan Yu seemed to pretty much try the same thing with Heartless. I guess it's a good thing I've always been more focused on talking to the community at large for these Draft debates, then.

Match 17730 The Foot Clan vs. Cybermen (Mondasian)
DSkillz replied to Movie-Brat's topic in CBUB Rated Matches
Pretty good set-up, Movie-Brat. And heh, Black Bolt's in the fracus now? What everyone else needs to do is get behind Blackagar and let him whisper/speak a few words. Not only should BB's voice just about wipe the field of Cybermen, it might even disrupt whatever portals the extras are coming through. As for the match, I think the Foot Clan is in pretty big trouble. Karai and the Elites may hold out for awhile, but unless they come to their senses and join up with the good guys, the Cybermen will likely overwhelm them. -
The solution for that would be simple: only approach Elsa at night or in otherwise darkened settings. Meanwhile, Shan's attempts at "manipulation" would likely amount to him trying to intimidate Elsa via physical force. That would not be wise to do with someone of her vast freezing abilities, especially with Yu's already-intimidating appearance. At the very least, Mim could disguise herself as something more approachable and maybe use some suggestive magic to sway Elsa.
-
Again, I seriously doubt Mim's merely morphed into various creatures and people just for giggles or to kill things on the spot. It's probable she's also used her transformations and other magic to manipulate others at some point. Considering Mim is pure evil, she'd realize that manipulating others is one way to induce evil acts.
-
I'd say she has a good chance at this. Mim hates Merlin's magic because she sees him actively using it for good. Once she sees a much younger and less-experienced Elsa unsure of whether to use her powers for good or evil, Mim may want to try to nuture her talents to cause as much chaos and destruction as possible. Besides, someone that's apparently been using magic as long as Mim would surely have an idea of when to restrain her more ... eccentric ways for this task.

12:11 - Ruby Thursday vs. The Condiment King
DSkillz replied to UMPIRE's topic in CBUB Season Draft Matches
You know, the whole time Ruby Thursday's been used in Drafts here, I always thought the name sounded like something out of a restaurant. Now I remember why. But yeah, Thursday seems to have more potential in this one. -
^^Y'all trying so hard. From what I've seen of Shan Yu, he's actually much more brutish than manipulative. The only people I've seen Yu convince to willingly do anything are his own Hun soldiers, and considering the Hun all seemed so like-mindedly thuggish in the film anyway, it likely wasn't a tough sell for him. Meanwhile, I could see more manipulating potential in Mim. She has convinvcing turned herself into a beautiful maiden. Since Mim also loves to see evil and despair, I think she'd pretty motivated to take someone with Elsa's potentially destructive freezing capabilities under her wing. With some restraint, Mim certainly has a shot to pull this off. In fact, it might make a good crossover event, like Disney likes to do every now and then.

Bu-but ... what if Codpiece flourishes his, uh, piece???

Aside from her powerful magic, Mim revels in anything evil. I have a feeling that she would jump at the chance to turn someone with Elsa's abilities.

Funny thing is, Vs. Battle Wiki places Midnighter as "at least" 9-A. To be fair, though, Midnigher seems pretty tough to scale overall.
-
One difference here is that Punisher is quite familiar with Logan and Peter and prepares for them accordingly. He won't have that chance in this fight, and even if he factored in Midnigher's Battle Computer, it may not really matter if Frank did prepare.
-
Consider Midnighter to be a something of a combo of Wolverine, Spider-Man, and Deathstroke. His healing factor compares favorably to Wolverine's, he hits harder than Wolvie or Slade (or Spider-Man in some instances), his Battle Computer outdoes the Spider-Sense in spades, and he's quicker than any of them in spurts. Midnighter could close the 50-yard gap between him and Frank before Frank could get off more than a few shots and use his much-superior speed and strength to take him out, or his Battle Computer could simply show him a way to take Punisher out before he could even get those shots off.

With seventeen rounds instead of the usual 12-13, don't be surprised if the winner ends up with 300 points or more.

12:10 - Planet Doom vs. Officer Rick Grimes

Maybe some folks think Victor owns a planet now? 😛 -
12:10 - The Equalists vs. Mobile Infantry
DSkillz replied to UMPIRE's topic in CBUB Season Draft Matches
Please take the Equalists out of the Arena for their next challenge, EMPIRE. -
If various versions of Sarah Connor can evade and take out cyborgs that can't be harmed by conventional firearms and have all manner of ways to seek out their targets (various types of vision, researching, etc.) she can definitely evade and take out less intelligent, more squishy creatures with fewer tools to work with for 24 hours.

12:10 - The Equalists vs. Mobile Infantry
DSkillz replied to UMPIRE's topic in CBUB Season Draft Matches
If the troopes do close up, that could make them even easier targets to get collectively wrapped up in the bolas and electrical discs. -
12:10 - The Equalists vs. Mobile Infantry
DSkillz replied to UMPIRE's topic in CBUB Season Draft Matches
Eh, may as well give this a try ... The moment the fight starts, the Equalists could throw down some gas grenades to give themselves some cover and possibly disorient the Infantry troopers. While it's true that the troopers could also start the batlle trying to mow down the Equalists, they may not tag them all, giving the remaining Equalists opportunities to scatter and possibly ensnare some with their bolas and electrical discs (which they won't be dodging with nearly the ease that Tenzin did here). Also, while the trooper may be trained combatants, I seriously doubt they'd be as quick and formidable as the Equalists can be up-close. Note that Korra and Mako are very likely stronger, quicker, and better at melee than the average Infantry trooper. Between their chi-blocking, bolas, and electrical gloves, I'm thinking the troopers would be in serious trouble if the Equalists manage to close the gap. -
Match 17661 Echo (Star Wars) vs. Captain Hook
DSkillz replied to Boratz's topic in CBUB Rated Matches
Another great set-up, Boratz. Had you started this a little earlier, it kinda looks like you could've made this into an expansive X-Mas arc. As for the match, the only thing I could find relating to Echo's combat skill is mention of his inexperience, so he may not want to engage Hook up close. Echo's armor should probably protect him to an extent, though, and he may have a good shot of taking Hook down with his blaster. -
I seriously doubt Achilles could be choked out. I'd have to imagine that was one of many maneuvers warriors tried against him in combat in ancient times, but failed. This should come down to Achilles' weak spot, and Frank shouldn't have too much problem figuring that out and attacking accordingly.

Late to bring this up, but Eris isn't a Disney character.

How about those free CBUB/FPL shirts, guys?
DSkillz replied to DSkillz's topic in CBUB General Discussion
So this makes at least 16 members. Judging from both this and the original sign-up thread (as well as knowing members in general), I'm getting a clearer picture of who has and has not signed up yet. Therefore, I may know who to tag/msg to give one last alert.- 4 replies
