To be fair, it took some pretty extraordinary happenings in the world for that to come about. It wasn't a planned thing. People wanted something to do during lockdown.

I do think the folks that have been playing around here over the last couple years and participating in the contests have been entertained.

And now they are going to take it forward and do whatever they want with it, as I retire once more.

My current understanding of the situation is that IKA is seriously considering giving it a go.

My current contract with Amazon Web Services ends May 2.  My job over the next two months is to get an Amazon machine image of CBUB host together to launch into it's new home.

My thought is that best to let people create the matches they want to create, and give focus to those.  Best not to muddy the waters with rando matches without a purpose.

The Finals matches will start tomorrow morning. I need a day to solve some technical issues because the Forum released an update which seems to have left me without any working themes besides the New Years one, and I need to get that sorted out.

And will we require a Wildcard Round to sort out a bunch of tied scores?!?

[12:15 - Fire Nation Foot Soldiers vs. Cowboys]

Honestly, I think either team has the athleticism to win here. Seems like a toss-up to me.

 

[12:15 - Michonne vs. Arkham Asylum]

I'm not seeing any reason why Michonne wouldn't be able to survive 24 hours here. Or even a month, year or ten years for that matter.

 

[12:15 - Alice (Resident Evil) vs. Mordor]

Mordor and Alice have both gone 2 and 0 this season. But only one can walk away from this match.

I think either could win, but I'm slightly leaning more towards Alice. She's good at keeping a low profile and avoiding danger, but when the shit hits the fan she's all in and tough to beat.

Bonus points for being one of the few - perhaps only - contestant in this slot who could take a credible shot at the Witch King in a duel, if it came down to it.

[12:15 - Lucky the Leprechaun vs. Willy the Hillbilly]

Honestly, I don't think either contestant here has a brand that fits the product well. I might toss a coin on this one, but will wait to see if an argument for either shows up.

[12:15 - Captain Crunch vs. The Burger King]

To me, this looks like Burger King's match.

Easy enough to use colored ketchup as a gimmick to sell burgers. Especially to kids.  Burger King himself is already super gimmicky.  Who could forget the Halloween Burger.

 

[12:15 - The Most Interesting Man in the World vs. Wendy]

Two winning corporate mascots that have gone 2 and 0 this season in an Epic show-down match.

I am leaning Interesting Man, because I feel that this terrible doll needs some sort of Interesting Story to help sell it. An Origin story or back story? It is such a miserable doll it needs a story to justify why it is so awful and fire the imagination.

[12:15 - Black Bolt vs. Battle-Beast]

I am not familiar with Battle Beast.

Black Bolt does have a very versatile kit which allows for different win conditions.  Most notably, simply speaking a word.  Couldn't say how that applies to Battle-Beast, though.

[12:15 - Mandrill vs. Calender Man]

I'm actually going to give Elasti-Girl more credit than to instantly fall for this creepy Harvey Weinstein villain.

The Mandrill is not the Purple Man - his shtick is much more breakable.

That said I imagine Mandrill has a path to victory here, possibly through other female child caregivers. I just do not see a path to victory through Helen Parr.

[12:15 - Mr. Peanut vs. Flo (Progressive)]

Mr. Peanut, you have put in a strong performance for my team this season and I thank you.

It is not you who have failed, it is the system that continues to put you in the Underwear challenge against lady mascots that has failed.

There is no shame for you in these loses, good Sir Peanut. In our hearts, you return to us a champion.

Rest now, gentle peanut warrior. Rest.

[12:15 - Copperhead vs. Shocker]

Snake themed villain operating out of a sewer seems in-character, anyways.

[12:15 - Martian Manhunter vs. Wonder Woman]

Happened in "Injustice". The only reason Wonder Woman lived was because Super Man was there to save her.

Wonder Woman does not win here, IMO.
