  1. leave it to @Z451 to find the most obscure characters to pick.

Compared to Toad, I'm actually thinking that the Thief will take a pretty comfortable lead here, as I could see him putting his guilt tactical nature to good use in blackmailing people, possibly environmental based politicians or conservationists, by presenting them dirt on their dirty dealings with coal or cutting down trees and the like, in that a PSA villain is actually a strong candidate.

Seems like a reasonable argument. Will wait to vote, but that is a business model that I think works in this scenario.

The plan on the Predators part was to activate everything anyway. The humans just activated it sooner then the Predators wanted.

An armed human in there midsts is also gonna get hunted, we saw this happen in the film.

The Poseidon had a career as a cruise ship before it sank. The sinking is a small part of it's existence. Same thing applies here.

    The scientist was not alone.

It's an interesting pick for the terrain slot, and moreover it is an interesting character competing in it.

To me, the thing with this terrain is it is heavily rules based. The viewer of the movie is presented with the rules of the Pyramid which plays a part in moving the plot.  IMHO, Eli doesn't meet the requirement for the Pyramid's rules progression.

Then, if assume Predators show up, this is again a rules based encounter. The Predator culture is rules based for hunting and Eli is not going to be recognized as prey. I mean, it's been awhile but I have seen Book of Eli. His big skill seems to be that he's a blind man who reads a bible in braille.

He is on the terrain, but nothing says he has to play the game.  Same is true in the Poseidon Adventure - the 1972 version doesn't sink for 24 hours - contestant wins by staying in a safe spot for a day.

Also, there is an exit from the pyramid back up to the surface, IIRC. One need not play the deadly game.

  3. The product is disposable underwear and pantyhose.

The demographic that Bic originally uncovered that would purchase this product is unknown to me.  So I'm not going to make a presumption about age or any tendency said demographic may or may not have to shart themselves.

So, I'm left with who needs disposable underwear and which mascot sells it.

I'm saying in this match the target demo is younger - hook-up culture and party people. Disposable underwear could be a thing.  And of the two mascots, I'm going the younger and hipper Dig-Em.  The frog looks like he's ready to hit a Rave and need a change of undies.

How are either of these scrappy underdog types?

They have Tier 9 versions in Vs Battle Wiki. That is the criteria. The slot title does not have the word "underdog" in it.

That said, interesting fight. In either case you are dealing with a non-comics version.  Please note @Peypeypeypey that the comics version of Deathstroke is also out of bounds.

I'm calling it  Raimi Trilogy Spider-Man vs. DCAU Deathstroke, and I think that is a very even pairing, but I'm leaning Deathstroke due to his experience.

The humans kicked things off early if you will, but what they did is something the Predators we're going to to anyway.

The Pyramid was set up to facilitate the hunt/test.

So even if Eli doesn't activate it himself the Predators will.

OK, so it seems Eli is safe from Xenomorphs because he will not be the one to start the cycle.

So, if we assume Predators show up in this random 24 hour period (which I would not say is any sure thing), then Eli is blind, unarmed, has no weapon skills.  By Predator culture, this harmless disabled man is not prey.  THey would have no interest in Eli.

I don't really have a dog in this fight, but I remember that the Pyramid operates on rules. Seems you don't have to worry too much if you just don't play.

    Just a reminder.

Once the hunt begins. The Pyramid rearranges itself every few minutes.

Meaning those inside can get killed by shifting walls and floors etc.

Then you have xenomorphs runnings around. Especially for somebody like Eli who generally fight up close this is bad as they have acid blood.

Even if one manages to not get killed by the Pyramid or the Xenos. You are still being hunted by Predators.

And that's not the end let's assume you can escape all that and get to the surface.

Once you do you still have to contend with the Antarctic conditions.

Eli is a bad-ass, but he does not have the gear ( survival or weapons ) or the appropriate skill set to survive this.

Sure I can maybe see him taking down a Predator in the right circumstances or getting lucky with a Xeno, but against multiples of each and a couple of environments that are almost as deadly as there occupants.

His luck is gonna run out.

My memory of the AvP film is hazy, but Eli is deposited by himself into the challenge.

If memory serves, the reason the pyramid went active was because there was a team bumbling around the place, with enough cannon fodder for somebody to discover the Xenomorph egg and start the cycle.

Actually, and I'm really trying to think back now, I think they even had to activate something to even progress to that point.

I'm just saying, Eli is blind isn't he? If he just sits in place and doesn't go bumbling around then, essentially, nothing happens. Is that not true?

Didn't ALF get captured and experimented on in the finale of the series? His telepathy couldn't get him outta that one

@Peypeypeypey yes, but for plot reasons and this has nothing to do with his battle powers.

ALF was intended to be captured to create an entirely new ALF show.

ALF was supposed to receive a fifth season. This would come with a new direction for the series, with the titular alien now housed at a military base. ALF would have been the new Sgt. Bilko; he would have been this captive driving everybody crazy. However, the network changed its mind and abruptly canceled the show. So ALF actually ends on an unresolved cliffhanger.

Point being, it was intended for ALF to be shown in this new show using his mental powers to mess with the military... which is exactly what he is doing in this fight. :)

Heh, the defending champ is always the biggest target. 😛

I think I'm cool with that.

This season has a looooong way to go.  Anything could happen.

If DSkillz is still leading around Christmas, then that might be valid.

    Got back from Disney, Fox!

Thank you for the tips! We had a blast. It was funny, I initially said it was going to be a once in a lifetime trip and now we want to go back.

Oh great, glad you had a fantastic time!

Disney World is super fun for sure. If you hit up Orlando again, give Universal Studios Orlando a look too. Two days is likely sufficient for both Universal parks, with a focus on the Harry Potter stuff.  (The Harry Potter stuff spans both parks). The new Harry Potter rides are currently the best rides in Orlando if you savor thrill rides.

I'm not sure how to treat the Poseidon here.

Because if I remember right in the movie it sank in less than 24 hours.

Meaning it doesn't meet the slot requirement of not being completely unsurvivable by a human-ish contender.

Unless we count surviving in a life boat/piece ( such as floating on a door or table ) of the ship or even on the surface of the water it used to occupy.

If a human has to stay in the ship when it sinks. I can't see survivors surviving, but if that's the case the Poseidon should lose via DQ for not qualified for this slot.

So the question becomes how do treat this scenario?

I have had the opportunity to watch The Poseidon Adventure more than once.

Why? Because yer boi Fox is old and pre-dates cable. He comes from a world which only had the four channels of Network TV and they showed this fairly regularly.

Actually, Fox remembers a world before video games, too. That's right, Fox pre-dates Pong! Yer boi Fox is old so don't be dissin' him for retiring :)

    But I digress.

IMO it's just a matter of getting to the rescue team and taking it easy for the remaining time. Earnest Borgnine survives the ship. Red Buttons survives the ship! (Sadly, Shelly Winters does not survive the ship). The ship is very dangerous, but it is survivable. The challenge seems to be can they get past the hard part to the rescue team.

Arkham is normally portrayed as having sealed cells, not jail bars.

So while bees should be able to find a way to squeeze through, they still have to find that way.

Where as Rhino just has to pick a direction and go.

Also once the bees are out of there cell they are still going to have to follow the architecture of the asylum, to some degree.

That is going to take the Swarm a little bit as they don't now the layout.

Rhino doesn't have to worry about the layout at all.

I would also expect Arkham to have lock down doors/gates etc that are going to slow down bees as they find there way around/through.

On top of all that. Things like pepper spray and tear gas are actually toxic to bees. So the guards may well have a way to bring them down. Infact activating the fire suppression systems would do a number on bees as well.

Speed is also good to factor in Rhino can keep pace with trains. That tend to go between 80-100mph where as the flight speed for bees is about 20mph.

In other words Rhino is faster and has fewer true obstacles to work around.

I don't disagree with this analysis. Arkham doesn't seem designed to hold a characters like either Rhino or Swarm.

It's really just a matter of which character is speedier on getting out. Depending on how close Swarm is positioned to reaching open sky, it might just be Swarm. But Rhino does have a history of crashing out of situations like this.

I guess I'd give the edge to Rhino 7 out of 10 but I think a vote either way is valid.

  12. I think Shazam should have taken the last match against J'onn. (I also would think Shazam would defeat Power Girl).

That said, I favor J'onn in this match.  Power Girl is vulnerable to mental based attacks - I'm sure examples could be found which show Power Girl being either KO'd or dominated by psionics.  Average Kryptonians just in general aren't any more resistant then regular humans, IIRC.

Anyways, it's been awhile but I seem to remember Power Girl having an issue against mental attacks. I have to go with J'onn, then.

The guards could at least theoretically stop or slow down Swarm though. There are ways they could try and slow down a large mass of bees. They have literally no way to even try to stop Rhino

"Theoretically" is the key word in that view.

There are youtube videos out there showing people being attacked by bee swarms. I would urge you to go take a look because people do not behave in those situations the way you seem to imagine they do.  People run for their lives, pretty much.

Ain't no guard going to be trying to stop that.

  14. I do not doubt that, as others have mentioned, Rhino could just charge the nearest wall and keep going to freedom.

    FREEEEEDOOOOM!

However, by the same token, what's to keep Swarm who is just a collection of bees from flying out as well.  I mean, he is technically intangible as he is made up of small individual insects that can go their own way.

  15. There are several versions of "Warworld" in the history of DC Comics. Some of said versions would not fit this slot as it is not possible to have a human on them.

Of the versions that do fit this slot, like it being just a big military training ground, I think Max is savvy enough at survival to stay out of the way and run out the clock on the match.

  16. Mr. Peanut, always a classy and can-do mascot, is all about action, adventure... and friends. He doesn't want to sell you peanuts... he IS the peanut. The Alpha-Nut.

His brand of gentlemanly yet James Bond like mayhem is just the thing the Pippin needs to give it a boost.  Would you ever see Wesley Snipes hanging out with Captain Crunch? No. No you wouldn't. Because Captain Crunch isn't cool enough for Wesley Snipes. Mr Peanut is, and Mr. Peanut is cool enough to sell the Pippin.

People are way overselling Scar here. His grand plan involved like 3 moving pieces ...

You mean that his plan had exactly the number of steps needed to succeed?  Why yes, yes it did!

Generally speaking, the more 'moving pieces' you add to any plan, the higher the probability of failure. But I believe this is especially true in crime plans. Scar is doing it correctly.

Also, all of your responses leave out the fact that Mandrill is an incredibly intelligent planner and schemer.

Well, he can plan all he wants to.  I maintain that there's no way this creeper that enslaves women is not publicly known and would be high priority for any law enforcement agency concerned with protection women.

Also, the women in this scenario hail from Beverly Hills - some of the most powerful and influential in the world and therefore the most watched and photographed.

All in all Mandrill has a number of disadvantages, and is also a pretty ewwww character in general - and I remember thinking that as a kid when the character would pop-up.  It's not like that power ever seemed to really work out for him.  I think it has a limited radius around him.

Backing Angar on this one. Let the voters decide!
