She may be, but Hex has out fought Batman up close And is fast enough to shoot him at a distance.
-
First things first. Both of these characters have demonstrated great senses and tracking skills. So given the starting proximity to each other means they are going to know where each other are regardless of sight lines. That said they are still likely to exchange fire at a distance. Hex with his guns and like Fox suggested Sonja with her bow, the problem is bullets are faster then arrows. That established Hex can deflect bullets. So arrows shouldn't be an issue to avoid while, I don't think we've seen anything to suggest that Sonja can dodge bullets. Hex is a fast draw expert so when these two a bead on each other Hex is likely to shoot first. So not only is he good to shoot first and his projectile is faster, but he's got more of a chance avoiding arrows then Sonja does bullets. Even if some how he doesn't quickdraw and fill'er full'a lead at 20ft. He is still an accomplished fighter who has defeated whole groups in close combat. With his reflexes and toughness. Taking his sabre and tomahawk against her sword and shield is completely do able.

Mirage may be a monster of sorts with magic. On the surface though that is the kinda thing Mystery Inc. has dealt with numerous times and kept going. Gaston on the other hand. Preys on the fears and insecurities of people. Whip groups in to fear and panic. Is actually kind of his shtick. Especially with a promise to Mystery Inc that he will solve the case himself. It would be easy enough for them to indulge the fear he's already implanted through rhetoric, lies embellishments etc. Basically do what he did with village in regards to the Beast, but in the end tell them to run, not follow him.
-
We see a bunch of ships firing in that clip, none of them vaporize Gallifrey. We see shots wrecking building, they same shot that humanoids. Can stand few meters from and be fine. Once again for all the talk of super weapons and planetary destruction. When we actually see Dalek ships in action. It's the same level of energy blast "laser" weapons we see in almost all visual sci-fi. And that level of firepower can hurt Dalek ships who can damage Time Lord ships. Really how tough can the Time Lords be if there greatest foe can barely manage stairs and slight inclines?
-
Mandeville explicitly mentions them in his Travel Log. Noting that they have resisted male rule. As in they have continued to be self governed. https://www.google.com/search?q=Mandeville+amazons&client=ms-android-motorola-rvo3&prmd=imnxv&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwi46_KNxLD0AhWTGjQIHXfRDMgQ_AUoAXoECAIQAQ&biw=412&bih=780&dpr=1.75#imgrc=Kid7pPfhNIGT4M Regardless of how you feel about it, this is part of the over all Amazon myth and is even mentioned in the wiki article. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amazons Under the header about Late Antiquity, middle ages, and Renaissance literature. For someone accusing me of picking and choosing. You are being far more nitpicky then me. I am trying to look at the entirety of the Myth surrounding the Amazons. You are complaining about myths not being true. Which by default they are not. In other words your whole " no no no this is the real truey, true story, of the Amazons." Thing Kinda silly. You don't think modern soldiers with modern equipment and knowledge, could do a better reenactment of a modern battle, then WW1 soldiers placed in the same scenario? And you'd be wrong about reenactments too. correct me if I'm wrong, but that looks like mounted knights, archers, crossbow men etc. this is a much smaller group and they have freaking trebuchet. Couple more notes. The Amazons being shaved men would not in any way effect the out come of the battle. Male or female there military exploits speak for themselves. Also it's worth noting that, that account conflicts with most accounts. Which Amazons being an extant state in the Middle Ages does not. Wrapping up. Spartans didn't use bows or mounted cavalry ( at the time of Thermopylae )which is the back bone of most medieval warfare. Guess who did, that's right Amazons and they did so even before the middle ages. So once again. You've got one group whose kit is closer to that of the middle ages and who may well have existed in the middle ages vs a group that has neither of those advantages. As for skill, tactics, strategy. Bother these groups were renowned for weapons skill, personal combat prowess, and ability to wage war. So yeah the group with more experience, with the kind of warfare in question, in this case the Amazons, are going to come out on top.
-
End of the war or not the weapons in question. Impact near humanoids, without vaporizing them and we see what those weapons do to Time Lord and Dalek ships and the Architecture on Gallifrey. Do the Time Lords have more powerful weapons? Probably, but can far less powerful weapons, then those in question hurt them/damage there craft? It seems that way.
-
Spartans may be able to figure out medieval equipment. Though I'd wager things like armor of the era, long bows, etc. Would take a bit. Think of it this way. Yes an army from WW1 could probably sort out how to use modern equipment, but would they use it as well as a modern army? Amazons we're described as unmatched with javelins, bows, and horses. That battled every major power of the ancient world and continued to do so into the Roman era. At one point it is believed they controlled most of Asia. Didn't evolve past them? Are you suggesting that the Amazons existed as a Sovereign power in the 1300s, while using weapons and tactics, from ancient Greece? Cause given the advances in weapons and metallurgy alone. Doing that would make the Amazons bad asses of the highest order. And they'd still be more familiar with medieval equipment, because they existed along side it. While Amazons are known for there prowess in single combat. You don't conduct military actions against every major power of the era. From Egypt, Persia, to India etc with out tactical and strategic acumen. We are talking about a people that not only invaded and occupied Athens, but again at one point are reputed to have held most of Asia.
-
For all the talk about Time Lord super weapons, when we see them at war they use bog standard sci-fi laser-y weapons. So I see no reason while the Skrull can't fight them on equal footing. Heck on the ground Skrull tend to be superhuman while The Time Lords are scared of revolvers. Not to mention the likes of Super Skrull.

12:5 - Jaffa Warriors vs. Tau Empire
RiotGear replied to UMPIRE's topic in CBUB Season Draft Matches
Not really the Goa'uld posed as gods and ruled large portions of the galaxy not the Jaffa. It's unclear here if the Jaffa are under the control of the Goa'uld or not. It only says Jaffa Warriors. Not Goa'uld or System Lords. That said the Free Jaffa Nation, should do just fine in a battle against the Tau. Infact there more cohesion and centralized command structure means they'll be more efficient then the System Lords ever were with all there in fighting. -
This is a medieval reenactment not a straight up fight. The Spartans we're dead a thousand years before the medieval period. The Amazons other hand hung on into the medieval period. Sir John Mandeville mentions the in his Travels. Written in the 1300s. So yeah I'd side with the group that has experience with the period in question. Even if this is just a battle where both sides are given medieval equipment. There existence in the era means the Amazons are going to have better understanding of how to use it.

And that still wouldn't count as a win. The challenge is to swindle McDuck. As in to cheat or deceive. Not steal from or rob. Sure Mim has a better chance at robbing Scrooge, but Demona has a better shot at swindling him. And that is what is being asked of them here.
-
Once again because there seems to be an odd amount of confusion. If the humans hadn't taken the plasma casters setting nothing's in motion. The Predators would have. It's part of the hunt. The Predators killed the whalers at the station above the pyramid. So no the are not going to just ignore Eli. Even if they. Follow some rule against offing armed intruders, that by the way doesn't exist. The Xenos don't have rules, neither does the shifting pyramid ( at least in regards to who it kills ). To those suggesting it easy to survive on the surface. It's the Antarctic with out specialized skills and equipment Eli is going to die of exposure. To those that are some how confused by the Poseidon comparison. This was in response to people saying what if he show up on a day other then the hunt. I was pointing out that doing so would be like treating, surviving the Poseidon like taking a cruise. Bey most of the time the Poseidon is a luxury liner, not a death trap. We up to this point have treated location like they are in one of there dangerous times. Not Isla Nublar, before Jurassic Park or while it was a theme park. Not the Poseidon while it was afloat. So why the Pyramid when it wasn't the hunt? Ironically even if he appears when there is no Predators. It means no access to the surface, little to no air and what there is, is going to be toxic and still no heat of any kind. Of and he may be stuck in a small area as the pyramid is not powered up. So even under those conditions he suffocates while dieing of exposure.
-
If the scenario said steal from Scrooge. Mim might have an easier time because of her power set, but it's says swindle and I think it's fair to say that Demona has spent more time using powerful obsessive men to accomplish her goals then Mim. Cunning and trickery is part of Demona's character, not so much for Mim. Demona also likely has access to assets provided by Xanatos that will make gaining in roads with McDuck easier. As to Demona having a short fuse. I say Mim is frustrated just as fast if not faster. And if she turns Scrooge into a squirrel out of frustration it's all over for her. So yeah, Demona's got way more experience running the long con on powerful men. I'm not sure either can accomplish there goal, but I'd like Demona's chances more.
-
Again if the humans in the film had not showed up the Predators would have activated the hunt themselves. Nothing really changes if Eli doesn't trip the start parameters. The humans in the movie were recognized as prey. Even those not responsible for triggering the pyramid. Yes Predators have rules for hunting. Those rules are normally if it's armed and/or can fight back it's acceptable prey. Eli meets both those requirements. And once again even if for some unknown reason the Preds ignore him. He still has to contend with the dangers of the pyramid itself and the Xenomorphs. Yep he can get to the surface. A surface that is freezing cold and full of snow and wind. Exposure kills quick.
-
The plan on the Predators part was to activate everything anyway. The humans just activated it sooner then the Predators wanted. An armed human in there midsts is also gonna get hunted, we saw this happen in the film. The Poseidon had a career as a cruise ship before it sank. The sinking is a small part of it's existence. Same thing applies here. The scientist was not alone.
-
Once the cycle is started there is nothing stopping the facehuggers, queen if she frees herself, or the eventual Predator based Xenos from coming after Eli. A specific 24 hours didn't seem to be a question when were discussing the Poseidon. Where it was assumed to be post crash, what is difference here? Eli may be blind, but he routinely carries multiple weapons and will go on the defensive if he perceives danger from Predators or Aliens. Even if for some reason the Predators leave him alone. Which they wont. Infact they may want to use him as a host sacrifice, but if they do ignore him he still has to contend with the Pyramid itself, the Xenos and/or the Antarctic elements. Surviving this place is like surviving a combination of Aliens, Predator, The Cube, and Hoth.
-
The humans kicked things off early if you will, but what they did is something the Predators we're going to to anyway. The Pyramid was set up to facilitate the hunt/test. So even if Eli doesn't activate it himself the Predators will.

12:5 - Willy the Hillbilly vs. Mickey Mouse

Just a reminder. Once the hunt begins. The Pyramid rearranges itself every few minutes. Meaning those inside can get killed by shifting walls and floors etc. Then you have xenomorphs runnings around. Especially for somebody like Eli who generally fight up close this is bad as they have acid blood. Even if one manages to not get killed by the Pyramid or the Xenos. You are still being hunted by Predators. And that's not the end let's assume you can escape all that and get to the surface. Once you do you still have to contend with the Antarctic conditions. Eli is a bad-ass, but he does not have the gear ( survival or weapons ) or the appropriate skill set to survive this. Sure I can maybe see him taking down a Predator in the right circumstances or getting lucky with a Xeno, but against multiples of each and a couple of environments that are almost as deadly as there occupants. His luck is gonna run out.

12:4 - The Romulan Star Empire vs. Reapers
RiotGear replied to UMPIRE's topic in CBUB Season Draft Matches
I think you are misunderstanding something. Mass Effect shields are specifically stated to to be kinetics energy barriers that interact with the mass of incoming objects. Directed energy weapons, like disrupters ( and transporter beams lack ) lack mass. So they will not be effected by kinetic barriers. Trek shields on the other hand do have an effect on both both energy and projectile weapons. We know this because we've seen it. We see replicators create clothes all the time. We don't know how much of Schinzons designs were his and how much was existing equipment. We do know that post Nemesis. The Romulan's would have access to it all. The admiral discussing personal shields may have been planning a coup, but he was activating a plan for the defense of Earth that the Federation/Starfleet had planned and equiped for. Borg shields were not effective against bullets, but in a "Fistful of Data's" Worf built a personal shield that blocked bullets, a shield mind you that he cobbled together out of a communicator and a 19th century telegraph. My guess would be that the shield built by the Starfleet security officer would be closer in style to Federation personal force fields, than those used by the Borg. Advanced material science means they can look like ren fair rejects and still be armored. There are forms of chain mail and weave still used in modern armors, but you just keep shifting that goal post. It possible the Remans wear it as protection from dangers in the mines and on the battle field. If you look at the disrupter burn on Burke's jacket you can see the jacket is rather thick with multiple layers of material, similar to what you'd see in some modern soft armours. Flak jackets are still armor and Trek material science is still centuries ahead of modern Earth. The Mass Effect battles I've seen the Reapers sit there and soak damage, not zip around or manoeuver about. Even if the main gun is in the eye, they still have to line up the eye with the enemy. Disrupter arcs can swing around and plasma torpedoes can chase ships at warp. Romulans/Remans are battle hardened troops trained against interrogation, with telepathic powers. Turning them on each other is not going to be as easy as your making it out to be. Romulan computers are very advanced. They should be fine in a hacking war for as long as this fire fight lasts. -
12:4 - The Romulan Star Empire vs. Reapers
RiotGear replied to UMPIRE's topic in CBUB Season Draft Matches
Thing is we know Star Trek shields stop directed energy weapons. So they are not responding to the mass of an object the way Mass Effect kinetic barriers do. Also Scott's guide to the Enterprise is not Canon. If we wanna use licensed work then I can pull out all sorts of things. That said that description sounds more like beaming a transparent wall into space then tiny projectors responding to incoming mass and pushing it away. Mass Effect barriers actual seem more like Trek navigational deflectors or reverse tractor beams. Any limitations in stock of EVA suits is easily remedied by replicators. Some of the effects of indoctrination will be slowed by environmental suits, on top of that Romulan's have spent years harding there mind against interrogation etc. So turning them is going to take a while. Also Reman telepathic powers should stunt indoctrination as well. https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Scorpion_class Romulan fighter craft useable in atmosphere and small and maneuverable enough to fly inside a warbird. We see borgified Romulan's, so it happened at some point. https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Personal_force_field Note that Earth had enough on hand to equip soldiers on every corner. https://usm.propstoreauction.com/m/lot-details/index/catalog/287/lot/74085/?url=%2Fm%2Fview-auctions%2Fcatalog%2Fid%2F287%2F%3Fpage%3D1%26view%3Dgrid%26items%3D48%26key%3Dtrek%26sale%3Dundefined%26catm%3Dany%26order%3Dhighest%26xclosed%3Dno%26featured%3Dno Here is the Reman uniform you can see a combination of more solid like metallic elements on the chest and shoulders as well as softer/padded protective elements on the arms and legs. https://www.google.com/search?q=romulan+helmet&oq=romulan+helmet&aqs=chrome..69i57j0i22i30.5759j1j4&client=ms-android-motorola-rvo3&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8#imgdii=EiwPvywzwcrxaM&imgrc=hHrK0cu84y5nOM Here is the Romulan helmet from Picard. https://www.google.com/search?q=romulan+helmet&oq=romulan+helmet&aqs=chrome..69i57j0i22i30.5759j1j4&client=ms-android-motorola-rvo3&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8#imgrc=KQj4bF7abbzjAM And the ones from TOS. I do like the goal post shift from you saying essentially "Romulan's don't have armor", to "well yeah they have armor, but like it suck." Let's go ahead at look at some of there peer opponents to though. https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Klingon_Defense_Force_uniform Klingon uniforms. I see a fair amount of armor there. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.inverse.com/article/33755-star-trek-discovery-armor-starfleet-phasers-canon-tos-burnham/amp Looks like the Federation has body armor too. They also seem to have some padded less rigid forms of protective wear as well. https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Burke_(Chief) Like Burke's uniform seen here. https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Shield We see here that Starfleet also makes use of physical riot shields. None of that mean Cardassian disrupters were more powerful. Rather that for what ever reason from economics to logistics. Cardassian disrupters were preferred. For that region. look at the posted clip. That is a vessel, that was underpowered by Romulan standards 200 years ago destroying a Mountain the size of Denali. the Star Trek TNg Tech Manuel suggests a photon torpedo output of 64 megatons. and based on some other sources that's a low estimate. I was speaking more to tactical manoeuvering, not the strategic ability to manoeuver naval assets to theater. Still we have other quote's from Voyager that translate to them moving one light year an hour and faster ones from all across the Canon. Have we every sewn Reaper ships manoeuver in combat the way we see Trek ships do in the DS9 fleet battle scenes? Long story short. Romulans may be able to bypass Reaper shield entirely and even if we handwaved that away, they have more than enough firepower to blast them from the sky. Even on the ground Reapers aren't really bringing anything the Romulan haven't seen before and the Romulan's have the massive advantage of being able to move troops via beaming. -
12:4 - The Romulan Star Empire vs. Reapers
RiotGear replied to UMPIRE's topic in CBUB Season Draft Matches
Shields in Mass Effect are kinetic barriers. The work by pushing back against the mass of incoming projectiles. Transporter tech works by converting matter to energy. Energy has no mass so what ever is being beamed in should have no issues getting by kinetic barriers. Similarly disrupters are directed energy weapons so should also by pass Mass Effect shields. Space and environmental suits exist in Star Trek so a lack of atmosphere shouldn't be an issue. Romulans have what they view as disposable troops in the form of Remans. So aren't going to be to concerned with the hostile environment or ezo. Why would Romulan troops stand no chance? Do you believe a disrupter would not hurt the Reaper forces in question? It's not as if the Romulan's haven't faced off against opponents with heavy weapons, vehicles, or special powers before. Star Fleet and the Klingons make use of grenades, mortars, artillery, shoulder launchers etc. The Breen have have anti-vehicle hand cannons. Star Fleet, Cardassians, and Klingons all make use of ground vehicles. The Romulan's themselves have atmospheric capable fighter craft. Jem'Hadar turn invisible, Klingons/Vulcan/Jem'Hadar are super strong/tough, Vulcans/Betazoids/Vorta etc have tk/tp powers. The are a cybernetic hive mind with built in weapons and shields. In other words this is not the first time Romulan's have faced off against heavy weapons, vehicles, or superpowers. Personal shields and body armor is not unheard of in Star Trek we've seen it used to varying degrees by most the major players and some of the episode governments as well. We see Reman troops with body armor in Enterprise and Nemesis, with see Romulan helmets in The Original Series, and we see armored Romulan assassin's in Picard. Romulans never stopped using plasma torpedoes. We know they tried to stock pile them at a "hospital" on a Bajoran moon during the Dominion war and we see Romulan ships firing torpedoes in DS9 and Nemesis. I'm not sure why you think Cardassian disrupters are superior, but the 200 year old Phase Cannons on the Enterprise NX-01 could obliterate a Denali ( Mt. McKinley ) sized mountain. Romulans ships of the era were more powerful then Enterprise and again that was 200 years ago in universe imagine how much more powerful there weapons are now. I don't believe we have seen Reaper ships maneuver they way Romulan ships can and most Reaper weapons especially the heavy ones can only fire in a limited arc. Romulan weapon arcs are not as limited. So it is going to be way easier for Romulan ships to both avoid getting hit and hit there targets. Yes you have to de-cloak to fire, but they can position themselves in weapon blind spots before they do. In other words Romulan's hold the edge in firepower and maneuverability. On top of trick like beaming in explosives and troops. -
12:4 - RMS Poseidon vs. Alexa "Lex" Woods
RiotGear replied to UMPIRE's topic in CBUB Season Draft Matches
I see the disconnect. The character profile for the Poseidon connects to the wiki about the 2006 movie, not the 72 one. And in the '06 version the ships sinks shortly after the survivors escape. It does this in a matter of hours. Meaning if we put the survivor on the ship at the beginning of the disaster. They'd technically have to survive underwater for the bulk of the required 24 hours. And that seemed like the sort of unavoidable death location. You didn't want this draft. In the '72 version on the other hand the ship stays afloat long enough for a salvage team to explore in the sequel. Maybe someday I'll watch the original all the way through. I caught bits and pieces of it on the five channels I got as a kid, but I don't think I ever saw it all the way threw. -
I'm not sure the mechs and zeppelins would count as Equalist cannon fodder. Where as your average cowboy is likely to have cows about.
