DSkillz
Alright, let's do this: Kobe vs. Magic Both are among the most competitive ballers of all time. Magic is bigger, was better in the post, and was much better at ballhandling/passing and fundamentals, but Kobe is more athletic and a better scorer and one-on-one defender. So, this matchup would probably go down much like the 1991 Finals with Jordan and Magic: Kobe will put much of his energy into guarding Johnson. Magic won't be as effective at playmaking, but Bryant will also put up a few ill-advised shots. Edge: Even Jordan vs. West West was one of MJ's b-ball idols growing, and Jordan has said he patterned much of his game after West's. They would be a dream game for both players. As both players were extremely competitive, they'd play each other very hard, but while I've heard the NBA Logo man had a slightly more deadly and longer-ranging jumper, I'm almost certain Mike had every other advantage. Edge: Jordan Dr. J vs. LBJ Erving and James are about even with hops. Erving has bigger hands, which alllows him a better grip on the ball to do all those crazy acrobatic shots he was known for. He may have been a even better scorer than James, and unlike the King, he actually has championship experience. Their competitive spirits are probably even, but James has every other edge. Tough matchup, but maybe if this was a dunking contest it would be a little closer still. Edge: James Sir Charles vs. Bird Barkley was stronger, quicker, and a better rebounder, but Bird was a bit more competitive, a better shooter, scorer, and a better grasp of fundamentals overall. Neither was great at guarding their man, but Bird was better at getting key deflections at crucial points of games. Also, Bird has (lots of) experience at winning it all. Edge: Bird Kareem vs. Wilt Wilt was the most dominant player of all time, but every time they played each other, a young Lew Alcindor dominated him with his quickness and sky hook. At one point the Stilt even claimed Jabbar was trying to show him up. Edge: Kareem So, in short, with Kobe and Magic more or less canceling each other out, the home team's best hope would be if Bird and Jabbar had huge games (which both were very capable of doing) The away team should take the other two matchups, though. Winner: Away team in a fairly close, very competitive game, due to better overall rebounding and passing. EDIT: This is my absolute last edit, I think...
