"Same here." Stith said.

"Mercenaries?" Katrina asked. "Then I suppose you don't have a choice--unless I offer you compensation..."

"And if that doesn't work, I can always call him." Katie smirked as if she were holding a Royal Flush in a poker game. It was like she was privy to some joke the others had missed.

Katrina glanced at Katie, but remained otherwise silent.

Being a Jedi Ktie had some capabilty as far as mind speak, even more so in his case gven her relationship with Kat, her sister's own ability with the power and sheer proximity.

<Confused sis?> she asked mentally.

X didn't know who "him" was, and he didn't much care either, turning to the other female, he asked with his arms crossed, "How much?"

Ripred listened intently. In a whisper, he spoke. "You mean Luthadel has no *vulgarity*ing army, nothing to back it? What the hell? Don't they know there's a god-be-damned war going on?.. You know what, *vulgarity* it. I'm going down fighting, if at all." Ripred crossed his arms and bared his six inch teeth in a brutal snarl that might've sent men back home all on its own.

"Did you miss the part where this world has been ruled by one man for a thousand years? What they call an army, you would call a policing force. Of course they don't know a war is going on, they don't have radios let alone interstellar communication."

"Value is always different among the nations, but..." Katrina kneeled and placed her hand on the ground, murmuring a few indistinct words. After a minute, the ground before her began to churn, and specks of gold color formed. Small at first, the flecks gained mass quickly. Effort from the spell made Katrina wipe at her brow, and eventually, she released the flow of magic. On the ground, four orbs of a pure gold color lie in the dirt. Each was roughly a foot in diameter, and just as tall. She kicked one over to X for him to inspect. Smiling faintly, "Will these suffice?"

The two saw money, Clarence saw it as a away out of slaughter.

"Who knowssss, I have seen weirder out of our magical foes. Armored friend, you may be in the best position to appraise it." Clarence suggests, glancing up to see if they reacted. Then something hit him. Focusing, he would try and use his mental powers to get a jack-in on their 'private' conversation, only enough with his power over reading empathy to see if they were plotting or if this payoff was legitimate. He'd practiced this since he was a baby(quite literally), so he was damn good at not being 'felt' and did his best to be discreet about it.

"I can feel your mind," Katrina said, peering in his direction. "I think it is quite rude of you to touch my thoughts, light as your touch was, without permission." Despite his caution, Katrina had the ability to sense even the faintest of lifeforms, from blades of grass to the largest of dragons. Hundreds of years of practice assured it. Immediately, she closed her mind off, thankful for not having responded to Katies question yet.

"I assure you, the gold is real. If you like, I could repeat that statement in the ancient language; a language that makes lying impossible. I would allow your mind reader to touch just enough of my mind to know that the words I speak are accurate."

X started laughing uncontrollably, "G-gold?! You're offering me g-gold?! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!" At this point he was kneeling, almost out of breath.

Recovering himself, he picked up his shotgun, and put it away. Turning to Clarence, "So, when do we kill 'em?"

Clarence was a bit miffed he got caught, however X's laughing was a bit unsettling.

"Thhhere a problem with the currencccy?" the sh'ra asks, with a low growl of annoyance towards the mercenary.

"Well, where I come from, it is called gold..." Katrina supplied with a seemingly genuine expression. "However, I can see that it isn't enough to satisfy your desire. I sense much avarice from you. Also, I think it would be better for your health if you removed the grin from your face." Her voice was completely calm, but her patience was wearing thin. Her knuckles paled as she clenched Uden's handle in anticipation of an attack of some kind.

"Oh man, you're paying me in a currency that was rendered obsolete by the 21st century. What, do they not have eezo on this rock?" X replied to the girl's challenge with an even wider grin, "If you want to maintain health, I'd suggest you keep your hands off your weapons before I teach you what a gun does."

Katrina tilted her head, expression passive. "You don't want me to fight without Uden. Without it, I can only promise you pain." Katrina spun the sword once in a simple gesture. "Mind numbing pain. I do not know of this eezo. I guess that means you get nothing, doesn't it?" She smiled serenely, pointed fangs just visible.

"I guess it does." X said drawing dual Tempest SMGs, "Its a damn shame. I hate killing little girls."

"So don't, just leave. There was absolutely no reason for your superiors to attack this planet in the first place. It's a backwater planet with no strategic value and people who pose no real threat to you. The only real reason I can think f that your superiors don't like magic and that's what this war is all about isn't it, the extermination of magic. You would slaughter man, woman, and child in the name of some genocidial maniacs for money. Capatalism at its finest."
