Guest sirmethos
Pulling the thread back on topic. Where does the "everything that DBZ does is based off ki" argument come from? I recall a lot of the basic feats such as Goku's stregth are based off you know building up the strength by training. Goku survived 100 times Earth's gravity on strength alone. Goku survived the gravity due to his Ki. Saiyans have a higher base Ki level due to the higher gravity of their planet. Even when not actively using Ki, it is still sub-consciously 'boosting' them, which is why(among other things) Goku could survive being shot by Bulma early on. I.e. his Ki protecting him. Not because his skin or bones is significantly more durable than that of humans. A good example is a comparison between Mr. Satan and Videl. Mr. Satan has the Ki level of a normal human, despite being a high end martial artist and having trained his arse off. While Videl has a considerably higher Ki, and is a lot stronger than Mr. Satan, despite having done considerably less training. I think darksaiyajin is right. the Z fighters can increase the power of there melee attacks through ki, but its not like all punches are powered from ki. For example, after training in 100 times gravity, Goku was a good dozen times as powerful as before. How would doing pushups and situps in 100 times gravity increase his ki? It didn't, it increased his strength. Yes, when they are fighting, all of their punches are enhanced by Ki. The only time they are not enhanced by their Ki, is when they are consciously suppressing it. After training in 100x gravity, Goku was several times as powerful as before his training, because his Ki had increased. Doing push-ups and sit-ups in 100x gravity increases his Ki due to constantly using Ki to survive the pressure of the gravity, i.e. to enhance his own muscular structure. This is also why the Z-fighters are physically stronger when they have powered up their Ki, compared to when they are suppressing it. I will admit though, that it's not 100% certain that Tony would be able to absorb the Ki used for physical enhancement. After thinking about it a bit, it's a good possibility that Ki used for physical enhancement is mostly internal, which means that Tony would only be able to absorb a small amount of it(i.e. the amount of Ki that is externally protecting them against damage, as opposed to the internal Ki which strengthens the musculature).
