JohnnyChany
As Walter Bishop tinkered with a Bunsen burner, Agent Astrid Farnsworth headed to the door of the Havard lab. “I’m going to the store,” she announced, “would you like me to pick you up anything?” “Why yes, please. My supply of Red Vines is at an unacceptably low level,” replied Dr. Bishop. Astrid chuckled, but before she could exit the door she was stopped by the entrance of Agent Broyles and a skinny kid with curly hair. “I trust that store trip can wait. We have a situation,” said Broyles. “Would you like me to call Olivia?” asked Astrid. “No. She, along with Agent Lee and Peter, are still helping with that case from the Other Side. It would be bad for our fragile alliance to pull them so quickly.” Broyles stared intently at the boy he was with, who was now wondering around the lab in sheer amazement. Walter approached him and extended his hand. “Hello. I am Dr. Walter Bishop, and who might you be?” “I’m Samuel Powers. But my friends call me Screech.” Screech shook the doctor’s hand enthusiastically. “And I know who you are. I have read a lot of your work, and I’m a big fan. You are sort of an idol of mine. That’s why I know you may be the only one that can help me.” “What seems to be the problem?” asked Walter. “I have memories of people and places that don’t exist,” answered Screech. Walter lifted a brow. “Interesting. Have you been using any experimental drugs lately?” “No. No. It’s nothing like that. I was beginning to think that I dreamed about them, but I have proof of their existence. Well at least one of them.” Agent Broyles took out a picture of a group of high school seniors from a file and handed it to Walter. He carefully looked it over. “That’s me, Slater, my best friend Zack, Lisa, and Tori Scott,” explained Screech. Astrid looked confused. “So?” “The problem is there is no Tori Scott. She doesn’t exist,” Broyles said flatly. “There is no record of her in that school, in that city, in this country. No one remembers her.” “Not even the people in this picture?” asked Astrid. Screech looked at the ground sadly. “I’m the only one.” “Like she vanished into thin air,” Broyles concluded. “How fascinating,” Walter remarked. “Do you think she is from another time line like Peter?” Astrid wondered. “It’s an interesting theory. That still wouldn’t explain how this boy would remember her. You haven’t been dosed with Cortexiphan, have you?” asked Walter. “Not that I know of. But, I have been experimented on a lot.” “It’s possible this boy is gaining memories from an alternate version of himself like those poor people in Westfield. However, that wouldn’t explain the photograph unless it was somehow transported from the other side.” Walter noticed Screech nervously fidgeting with his hands. “Are you okay? Is there something you aren’t telling me?” Screech scrunched his face up for a moment before answering, “I’m not sure what is going on, but I think my best friend, Zack, is responsible. I found the picture in his room and he got angry when I asked him about her. He thought I tore it up, but I kept it.” “Where is Zack now?” “He has gone missing,” replied Broyles. “A couple of agents were asking him about the photo and they lost place of him.” “Lost place of him?” Astrid repeated. “Because not only is he the coolest guy in the world, he can freeze time!” announced Screech. Agent Broyles rolled his eyes. “He told me about one time,” insisted Screech, “he makes his hands make the letter ‘T’ and he says 'Time Out’ and freezes time. He proved it to me at an assembly by pantsing Mr. Belding. He has magic powers.” Walter scoffed. “Magical powers? That’s absurd. But it does sound like some sort of Fringe event is going on in that school. Perhaps your friend is linked to it.” Walter thought for a moment. “Earlier you said people and places, who else do you remember besides this girl?” “It’s really fuzzy, but recently I started to remember going to middle school in Minnesota with Zack and Lisa. We had a couple of other friends named Mikey and Nikki. Our teacher was named Miss Bliss and even Mr. Belding was there. But that conflicts with my memories of always being in California and growing up around Jessie and Kelly.” Astrid sighed, “I can’t keep up with all these names.” “I’m sorry I tend to ramble when I get worked up,” said Screech. “What do you think, Dr. Bishop?” asked Broyles. “My hypothesis still hinges on the possibility that the alternate universe where this Tori resides is bleeding through to our reality. But, the key may be finding this Zack and learning exactly what he knows and what he is capable of. I will need to study the place in person to be sure.” Walter motioned to Agent Farnsworth. “Astral! Gather my tools we are going to California.” Astrid brushed by Screech as he gave her a silly grin. He leaned toward Walter. “Do you think it would be okay if I could sit next to Agent Farnsworth on the trip back to California? She is really pretty and reminds me a little of the love of my life, Lisa.” Walter giggled. “I’m sure she would be delighted."
