JohnnyChany Posted March 26, 2012 Share Posted March 26, 2012 BATMAN/GARGOYLES CROSSOVER Part III In the Bat Cave, Xanatos, Alfred, the Manhattan Clan, Elisa, Coldstone, and Talon were in the midst of planning out their assault on the escapees of Arkham Asylum to assist Batman. Brooklyn watched Angela’s face as Broadway left to fight Blockbuster. Her concerned expression sent a twinge of jealousy through Brooklyn’s body. He walked over to the computer and ran his eyes across the remaining villains. “Which one of these goons is mine?” he asked. “In a hurry for battle, lad?” asked Hudson. Hudson glanced in Angela’s direction. “I hope it is for the right reasons.” “It’s not what you think. If we are here to fight these bad guys and protect the people of Gotham City, then there is no reason to sit around here and wait,” insisted Brooklyn. “Very well, Brooklyn,” said Xanatos. “Alfred, pull up the file on Man-Bat.” “Yes, sir.” Alfred typed at the keyboard and a large picture of Man-Bat encompassed the screen. “The criminal you are looking at is named Man-Bat. As his name implies, he is man sized bat. He was originally a scientist named Dr. Robert Langstrom. Dr. Langstrom ingested a formula that turned him into the creature you see before you,” explained Xanatos. “Sounds like a kindred spirit for Dr. Servarius,” Talon remarked bitterly. Xanatos shook his head. “It’s not exactly the same, Derek. Dr. Langstrom never intended for mutation. But once it takes hold he is consumed with rage and he becomes a danger to all those around him.” Alfred turned toward Brooklyn. “He is one of very few villains in Gotham who can actually fly so you won’t have an advantage there.” Brooklyn’s confidence waned for a moment. “Why choose me to take him down?” Because,” said Xanatos, “as Alfred stated Man-Bat can fly and in his current mind set who knows what he will do. To defeat him, we need someone who is both extremely agile and able to think on his feet in battle. To adjust strategies if the situation calls for it. Qualities you have demonstrated on several occasions.” Goliath placed his claw on Brooklyn’s shoulder. “I agree. Why else would I have made you my second in command.” Xanatos lifted an eyebrow. “If you don’t think you can do it Brooklyn...” “No, I can do it. I know I can. I am a proud warrior and a leader in this clan,” Brooklyn boasted. “Excellent,” said Xanatos as he reached in his pocket for an earpiece for Brooklyn. “Remember Alfred and I are here to help you track him down.” Lexington looked up at his friend. “Go get him, Brooklyn.” Brooklyn nodded with confidence. DSkillz Posted March 28, 2012 Share Posted March 28, 2012 Good set-up, JohnnyChany. Man-Beast is indeed strong and vicious, but Brooklyn might be stronger still. Plus, his cunning will likely negate any advantages Man-Bat would have with his feral instincts and ability to fly over Brooklyn's gliding.
