Match 11119 Onyx vs. Demona

BATMAN/GARGOYLES CROSSOVER Part VI

 

 

Summary: With all the inmates freed from Arkham Asylum, Batman had more than he could he handle. Even with the help of his usual allies like Robin and Nightwing, the dark knight was overwhelmed. Alfred sought out a new ally, David Xanatos, who has come forth ready to offer a helping hand along with the Manhattan Gargoyle Clan.

 

 

While members of the Manhattan Clan were lining up in the Bat Cave to take on some of Batman’s fiercest villains, other gargoyles had arrived in Gotham City with their own agenda.

 

Thailog and Demona stood atop a rooftop and surveyed the landscape.

 

“Something big is going down I can feel it,” said Thailog. “It peaked my interest when my spies told me that Xanatos was making an emergency trip to Gotham City. But, the fact that Goliath and his clan soon followed made it too irresistible to pass up.”

 

“What could they possibly be doing here?” wondered Demona.

 

“Who knows. But there is a lot of untapped power in this city. Whatever situation has brought them all here, I know I can exploit it for my own personal gain,” said Thailog.

 

Demona glared at him for a moment.

 

“I mean our personal gain of course.”

 

“But we are in a foreign place. I don’t even know where to begin looking for them,” lamented Demona.

 

“Why put in that uneccessary effort, when we can bring them to us.”

 

“How...” Demona’s voice trailed off as she followed Thailog’s eyes to a young woman walking through a nearby alley. “I see. If this is anything like New York, one of those fools will come swooping in as soon as we put some pathetic human’s life in danger.”

 

“Exactly,” said Thailog. “One way or another we will get their attention.”

 

Demona walked a little distance from Thailog. Excitement filled her body as she staked out her potential prey.

 

“Or the attention of one of the countless costumed nutjobs that inhabit this city,” Thailog added under his breath.

 

“What did you say?” asked Demona.

 

“Happy hunting, my Angel of the Night,” said Thailog. “After you’ve connected with the Clan find out all you can about their dealings here. Contact me, and we will formulate our plan from there.”

 

Demona quickly ran over and embraced Thailog. “See you soon.”

 

“Of course,” replied Thailog. “Now go before we miss out on a golden opportunity."

 

Demona glided down into the alley as Thailog slipped into the shadows and disappeared. Demona landed right in front of the young woman. The woman dropped her purse and shrieked in terror.

 

“Oh my god! Please don’t hurt me!”

 

“Scream! Scream for your life, human,” Demona hissed. “The louder the better.”

 

 

A block away, the former assassin, Onyx, was running across rooftops. Her communication with Nightwing had broken down before she could get the location of Deadshot. All she knew was that he was somewhere along 55th. Or at least he was. She had decided to scope out the entire street in hopes of finding him. A woman’s scream broke her concentration. She followed the direction of the screams which led her to a dark alley. Onyx peered over the ledge and saw a winged creature towering over a frightened citizen.

 

 

Demona stepped closer to the woman, growling for dramatic effect. Suddenly a kick to the back sent Demona crashing into a nearby dumpster. Demona quickly returned to her feet, but saw no one. Another kick to the back sent Demona into the wall.

 

“I’ve seen some creepy things in this city. But you might take the cake,” said Onyx.

 

Demona returned to her feet again. Anger rumbled through her voice. “Mind your business, human! I’m not here for you.”

 

“Protecting the innocent is my business,” Onyx retorted. She turned her attention to the woman on the ground. “It’s okay you’ll be safe now.”

 

“This is my last warning, human, leave now,” a furious white glow illuminated Demona’s eyes. “or I will kill you where you stand!”

 

“You could try,” said Onyx confidently.

For the match, I'm going with Demona!

Regardless of her MA skill, Onyx can't really hope to go toe-to-toe with Demona, who is much stronger and possibly quicker than she is. Her knowledge of pressure points could help her out, but a Gargoyle's physiology is likely pretty different than a human's in that respect. Onyx's best chance would probably be to use stealth to her advantage.
