JohnnyChany
BATMAN/GARGOYLES CROSSOVER Part XI Summary: With all the inmates freed from Arkham Asylum, Batman had more than he could he handle. Even with the help of his usual allies like Robin and Nightwing, the dark knight was overwhelmed. Alfred sought out a new ally, David Xanatos, who has come forth ready to offer a helping hand along with the Manhattan Gargoyle Clan. Goliath’s eyes never left Elisa as she exited the Bat Cave to track down the serial killer, Victor Zsasz. Xanatos folded his hands in front of his lips and thought for a moment. “Ok, where was I before Detective Maza’s impassioned interruption? Ah yes, Goliath and Lexington..†Xanatos’s cell phone rang. “Hold that thought.†He looked at his phone to see that it was his faithful assistant, Owen, calling. “Yes, Owen,†he answered. “Troubling news, sir. The android Coyote has gone off line. I fear that he failed in his mission to capture the villain, Killer Croc,†said Owen. “That is troubling, I was for sure that Coyote was strong enough to take him down.†As Owen and Xanatos talked over the demise of Coyote, Batman’s computer alerted Alfred that someone was at the front door. “Excuse me, sirs.†Alfred dismissed himself to go open the door. “Perhaps these villains are much more powerful than I had originally anticipated,†Xanatos said to Owen. Goliath leaned over to Lexington. “Did you hear that? Xanatos’s precious android was destroyed in battle. It appears Xanatos has underestimated our adversaries. Our clan might be in more danger than we thought. And what about Elisa?†Fear and concern overcame Goliath. “What about Elisa? We are in a strange place and we were naive to think Xanatos could navigate us through. I’m going to after Elisa to protect her!†“Goliath! No! Wait...†pleaded Lexington. Goliath left the Bat Cave. Xanatos remained oblivious as he tried to restrategize over the phone with Owen. “It’s not all bad news, sir,†Owen reassured. “I also called to inform you that another ally is on the way. He came here looking for Goliath, and when I told him what you all were doing he was eager to join in on the adventure. He should be arriving there any minute.†Alfred opened the door at the front of Wayne Manor. Standing there was a man with a thick white beard and long black trench coat. “May I help you?†asked Alfred. “I hope I’m not too late for the party,†the man replied. Goliath prepared to glide down from the rooftop of Wayne Manor and find Elisa. A voice stopped him. “Just what exactly do you think you are doing?†Goliath turned around to look at a man who looked similar to Batman, but was distinctly different. “At first I thought a group of monsters were attacking Bruce’s house. But then I watched you, one by one, leaving here and going out into the city. It occurred to me that you must be here to help Bruce recapture all the criminals that were set free from Arkham,†said Jean Paul Valley. “Yes we are. I am in a rush myself. But, if you are here to help, the others who haven’t already left to fight are inside with Alfred,†Goliath replied. “I did come to help...originally...but then a thought came to me. Last time something like this happened it resulted in me becoming Batman. I really liked being Batman. I was a damn good Batman. I made some mistakes, but I learned from them. I’m ready to be Batman again. As you can see, most of my original suit still fits. Unfortunately, for me to become Batman again I need for things to run their course. Which means no one is allowed to help Bruce any longer.†It was starting to become clear in Goliath’s mind why this man had stopped him. “I don’t want to fight you,†he said. “At the moment I just want to find my friend.†“Don’t lie to me, monster!†Valley shouted. “Like I said I can not allow you freaks to interfere any longer.†Anger began to build inside Goliath Jean Paul Valley smirked. “Let’s see what you got, big guy.†

leroypowell3
Goliath crushes Jean. He has some built in weapons and stuff to put up a better physical fight that Bruce would, but he still goes down.
DSkillz
Hmmm... intriguing matchup. I've read the Knightfall saga, so I'm prerry familiar with what Azrael is capable of. I remember Jean had a pretty tough time with Bane until he severed his venom feed (after which, Jean pretty much handed Bane his ass). Goliath's stronger than even a fully-pumped Bane, IMO, but lacks the slight healing factor Bane's venom provides and some of the fighting skill. Azrael's rapid-fire Bat shuriken and flame thrower might do some pretty nice damage to Goliath if he's not careful, but I think Goliath's strength and determination can pull him through. Unless, of course, Azrael's wearing his most powerful armor, then it becomes a tough battle of strength with the gargoyle. Jean gives up a lot of quickness with that armor, though.
