Match 11197 Blade vs. Wolverine

[Guest .Big Game James.]

Wolverine is walking around the X-Mansion getting ready for his daily training, taking on a cloned Sentinel engineered by Beast. Beast nods to Wolverine signaling the exercise has begun. The Sentinel is released from it's stand point and Wolverine quickly jumps into action latching onto the Sentinel and thrashing his claws through it's back. The Sentinel then grabs a hold of Wolverine throwing him to the ground shooting blasts of energy. Wolverine quickly dodges the blasts and proceeds to attack the clone. He then takes a swipe at one of the legs of the Sentinel and connects right on target as the clone drops on its hands and knee. Wolverine lunges toward the Sentinels head digging his claws through its head. The Sentinel drops flat on the ground as sparks fly left and right. Wolverine lights up a cigar and speaks....

 

Wolverine: Got any more of these chumps that i can tear apart? These Sentinels just aren't what they used to be.

 

Beast: From my calculations Logan, My Sentinels are almost exact replicas as Trasks Mark II Sentinel design. If you can take down a Mark II like you just did you can take down any of them Logan. I will try to enhance there abilities as best as i can. By the way, good training today. It seems you have recovered well from your last confrontation with Victor. You took quite the beating. No offense.

 

Wolverine: None taken. I feel great since our last meeting. In fact, I've never felt better. If i so much as see Sabertooth i will rip his heart out.

 

Beast: Next time you should bring us along. You may not be so fortunate next time. Sabertooth may not be alone!

 

Wolverine: I'll be just fine Beast. Juuuust Fine. (He takes a drag of his cigar)

 

Cyclops enters the room.

 

Cyclops: You'll be just fine doing what?

 

Wolverine: None of your business pretty boy.

 

Cyclops: Don't start this again Logan. Professor X told us to solve our differences by talking and working as a team. Not by seeing who is better than the other. That is not the way of the X-Men.

 

Beast: I see i am out of place here. I am going to leave the room now. Just try to get along you two. (Beast removes his glasses and sets them on his work bench and leaves)

 

Wolverine: Just stay out of my way or i'll tear you apart.

 

Cyclops: Like i said before Logan i don't wish to fight you. I have nothing to prove to you and you have nothing to prove to me. We are teammates, were on the same side.

 

Wolverine then becomes angry at Cyclops talking and lunges at him without warning. He spears him and takes him down flat to the ground. Professor X enters the room.

 

Professor X: WOLVERINE! That's enough. Let him go!

 

Wolverine: Why should i listen to you?

 

Professor X: Because I am here to teach you the ways of being part of the X-Men. We must all get along and stick up for one another or Magnetos brotherhood of mutants will take over what we are trying to protect. Do you want that Wolverine?

 

Wolverine: You blame this all on me Professor? I'm out of here! I don't need you. I don't need any of you.

 

Wolverine then walks out of the mansion slamming the steel door behind him. Wolverine then starts walking into a woods a short distance from the mansion.

 

Meanwhile.

 

Blade is in the sewers brawling with 5 vampiries. One of the vampires jumps at Blade grabbing ahold of his arm while another jumps onto his back. Blade cuts one in half and shrugs the other off his shoulders, quickly turning around and staking it in the heart. Simultaneously the other 3 start circling around him. He pulls out his teak knives and one after another throws them landing them both in the hearts of two vampires. At that time he does a spin-a-round swipe with his sword taking off the leg of the last vampire and stakes it through the heart after it falls to the ground. Blade returns back to the Nightstalkers headquarters, where he begins to talk with his teammates.

 

Blade: Where the hell were you guys? I was ambushed by vampires and could have used your assistance.

 

Frank Drake: You need to tell us before you just go. If we have no warning where you are, how can we help?

 

Hannibal King: Your lucky you came back in one piece Blade. The Vampires are out for you more than ever.

 

Blade: You don't think i can handle things myself? I go out when i want and why i want to.

 

Hannibal: Not while your with this team you won't. We stick together as a team and fight as a team, and that's that.

 

Frank: He's right Blade. If were going to go through with the Nightstalkers, then our heads all must be in the same place. No more venturing out alone like you did. Agreed?

 

Blade: No, if i want to do things on my own once in awhile then i am free to do so.

 

Hannibal: Then find new partners.

 

Blade: Well good because i'm leaving anyways. I can't stand to listen to you preach to me like you are my leader.

 

Doctor Strange enters the room.

 

Strange: Blade, please listen to your teammates. They are trying to help you and keep you safe from the Darkholders. They are out for blood and will stop at nothing until they have found it.

 

Blade: Forget all of you. You make everything seem too complicated. I did things on my own before and i'll be damned if i can't do it again. I'm out of here.

 

Blade then walks out of the headquarters and ventures into the same woods Wolverine is in, although they both have no idea.

 

As Wolverine is walking in the dark of the night he detects something out of place.

 

He tosses down his cigar, sniffs, and his ears flare up.

 

Wolverine: I smell......

 

Out of nowhere Blade flips from a tree landing, crouched with his hand posted on the ground.

 

Wolverine: A Dhampir!!!

 

Blade: Right you are, and you are trespassing into my neck of the woods, and i suggest you get out or there will be consequences.

 

Wolverine: You wish punk. I'll show you a thing or two about manners.

 

Blade: You will show me nothing as i cut you from ear to ear. Say your prayers. These will be your last ones.

Yeah, some have either typed up a set-up using the three-hour delay and clicked "Post", thinking they had just submitted it, or used the delay to finish their matches later, only to look back later and see only the "Enter your set-up here" message instead.

Pretty good set-up, BGJ. I think Wolverine would win this confrontation after a brutal, protracted battle due to his healing factor and superior fighting skill. The scuffle probably won't get that far, though, since the X-Men and/or the Nightstalkers will likely find them and jump in.

Alright, finally got to reading this...

 

Pretty good set-up, BGJ. I think Wolverine would win this confrontation after a brutal, protracted battle due to his healing factor and superior fighting skill. The scuffle probably won't get that far, though, since the X-Men and/or the Nightstalkers will likely find them and jump in.

I think this is a lot closer than people think. Both characters are about equal in fighting prowess (Wolverine's superior experience and skill being countered by Blade's superior strength and speed). It comes down in my opinion to weaponry and savagery, with the fight happening something like this:

 

The two crash together in a clash of metal and then swing back, each surprised at the other's strength and skill. However, Blade looks down and to his dismay sees that there is only about a foot of steel remaining of his beloved sword, the rest having lost in a contest against Wolverine's adamantium.

 

Both fighters crouch and launch themselves forward at lightning speed, Blade ducks a swipe of claws and jabs the remainder of his sword into Wolverine's eye. At the same moment he feels a pain in his stomach and looks down to see three metal claws embedded in his abdomen. With a cry he lurches back, but not before quickly slapping a couple of hand bombs onto Wolverine as he back flips away.

 

Hurt and bleeding he stumbles back to base camp to get his wounds seen too, hearing the satisfying and familiar BOOM as the hand bombs go off behind him. With a sword in the eye and a body probably scattered around the place, Blade is confident he has seen the last of his opponent.

 

At long last he makes it back to base, the blood continuing to seep out of the savage wound in his stomach. The moment he stumbles through the door he realises something is wrong as there is no alarm and the lights are all out.

 

"Miss me bub'?" says a deep voice from the shadows...

 

Blade wins the battle, Wolverine wins the war...

Uh, just pointing this out: being stabbed in the stomach would hardly even phase Blade. While his vampiric healing factor isn't on par with Wolverine's, it takes care of stuff like that quickly.

I'm sure I've seen him hurt by a samurai sword before, but you are right it does take a lot to damage him. In this case I think a swipe by Wolverine, potentially ripping open his stomach would probably do the trick. It would take Hulk/Wolverine style regen to not be phased by that. It has been a while since I last read something with Blade in it though, so not sure where his regen stands at the moment.

Blade knows about Wolverine in the comics and is capable of putting down Wolverine. However that depends on whether or not he knows he is fighting Wolverine in the setup. If he does then Blade is smart enough to fight the right way against Logan to get a win. If not then Blade loses as he may not fight Wolverine the right way and may go about fighting Wolverine as if he were some other villian or vampire. That would be a mistake which would cost him.

 

Like I said depends on whether Blade knows he is fighting Wolverine since in the setup its dark and there in the woods. Plus in the setup both men didn't seem like they knew each other.

To be perfectly honest I out it down as a draw but the fan element says wolverine, only because he is the only of the two who is prepared to go through more hell because he is just that pi$$ed off with everyone. (And he wouldn't change it any other way!)

This one would be a close one and I'd pay good money to see it. In the end I would have to give it to Wolverine. Adamantium is the true winner of this fight.

I simply can't think of anything Wolverine has to fear from Blade. Unarmed and naked, Logan possesses similar physical attributes as Blade, e.g., speed, strength, dexterity, agility, etc., and is at LEAST the martial artist/fighter Blade is. 

 

In terms of experience, Wolverine is a "generalist" whereas Blade is a "specialist". As we all (should) know from biology, it's the generalist that best weathers hardships.

 

Wolvie has--and does--take on all comers, ranging from (arrogant/misguided) humans to other mutants and superheros/villains, aliens, paranormal phenomena (Wendigo), robots (Sentinels), etc.

 

Blade fights vampires. Yeah, he may come across and fight non-vampires on occasion, but his focus is the "un-dead". His training, weapons, tactics and strategies are oriented toward that end.  

 

Considering Wolvie's Adamantium and healing ability, does Blade possess any weapons that could really harm him or that could offer an effective defense against Wolvie's claws? 

 

I'm not sure what senario would have to transpire in order for the two to face off against each other, but as soon as the gap was closed to within melee range, the old Canuck would have Blade's head. His ONLY chance at survival, I believe, would be to keep Wolvie at a distance until he could effect an escape.  

 

Wolverine is, in short, a Force of Nature and confidence incarnate. Not having a reasonable chance of beating you (think Magneto) isn't a barrier to him taking on the challenge. Even if you win, you'll be grateful that you did.

I am by no means the greatest writer here yet, I would think that both characters would have enough common sense to not want to fight simply because of ONE comment saying that I will hurt you or something like that. Wolverine, regardless of his feral side has enough brains to not want to fight simply off one comment like that. I don't know perhaps I shouldn't care yet are we supposed to let something like that matter as far as a setup.

 

The setup wasn't BAD by any means, yet it just got weak concerning the reason to fight down there at the end...any feedback on that? I am not slamming the work..

As far as the battle itself with Blade being what he is, he would be faster than Wolverine and though Wolverine could hurt him and vice versa, the best you would get would be a stalemate due to the fact that Blade's gonna see all the attacks coming. Wolverine isn't superhumanly fast or strong for that matter. He's strong of course because he does weigh a lot more than he should due to his skeleton yet Blades able to avoid anything he could do. Plus with Blade being a master swordsman he would be able to stay outside of Wolverine's range. He doesn't have any blade that can cut the skeleton of Wolverine and Blade has a healing factor himself but Blade's too good to end up getting killed. You'd get a stale mate at best and once Wolverine saw he wasn't moving fast enough to get any of his attacks through he'd eventually see it was pointless and leave it alone. I doubt a fatal blow would be given by Wolverine in this case. My call is for a stalemate.
