Match 11296 Loose Cannon vs. The Hulk

It is 9:30 on a stormy night at the Metropolis Special Crimes Unit (MSCU) while Eddy is getting ready to investigate a new case he has been put on by Maggie Sawyer, who is also head of the MSCU . Suddenly he recieves a call from General Ross. Ross had told Eddie he heard that he is one of the best meta-human researchers in all of the world and has successfully completed all of the jobs he has been put on. His job for the past years has been to hunt down and kill alien parasites and stop meta-human criminalization. Ross asked Eddie if he'd take over the job for him. Eddie agreed. Ross had already known the exact location of Banner and gave Eddie specific orders to return him to government containment therefore, Eddie took Banner as a major threat to society and sprung into action. Ross also warned Eddie about Banners rare condition and told him to bring as much firepower as possible. Eddie laughed to Ross on the phone and told him not to worry about it, he had it under control. As they hung up Eddie immediately sprung into action. While exiting the back of the building, into the dark of the night, he immediately went into his transformation as Loose Cannon.

 

Loose Cannon arrives at the destination. Banner is staying in a small Motel. Loose Cannon then rips down the door and Banner immediately wakes up. Seconds after he tears down the door, Cannon speaks.

 

Loose Cannon: Banner, your coming with me!

 

Banner: What are you talking about, and what the h*ll are you?

 

Loose Cannon: That's not important. On your feet.

 

Banner (not standing up): Ross sent you didn't he?

 

Loose Cannon then gets angry and just picks Banner up by his shirt.

 

Banner: Bad idea blue fella. Bad idea.

 

Banners heart rate accelerates and his eyes turn green, transforming into the Hulk. Loose Cannon drops Banner an as he's turning into the Hulk and he steps back then immediately lunges towards him. Cannon Spears the Hulk knocking him straight to the ground with extreme force.

 

Loose Cannon (momentarily pinning Hulk to the ground): I'm gonna have to return you to Ross the hard way huh?

 

Banners transformation is 100% complete and Loose Cannons eyes open wide, as he's impressed with the mass of Banner afterwards.

 

Hulk kicks Cannon off of him sending him flying backwards.

 

Hulk: I told you to leave me alone!

 

Loose Cannon: I can't do that green guy.

 

Both take off running at full speed toward one another.

 

Let the battle begin!

Comments galore? Loose Cannon is an awful character. He's the prototype for Jeph Loeb's actual Hulk run, which should tell you something right there. The best thing you can say about the character is that he was lucky enough to be briefly associated with Tommy Monaghan.

 

Kudos for picking a seldom-used DC character from the 90's, but next time go for Jack Knight or Hitman or Thessaly or someone interesting.

oops thats me signed in as a guest. lol matching the strength of supes and eradicator isn't awful to me. lol not saying he's any better than hulk because hulk has exceeded the strengths of juggs, abomination, thing etc.

Absolutely not. You've reduced The Hulk, (who has occasionally been a spectacular character to read about,) to a list of powers. This tells me you think the Hulk is ABOUT having superpowers- that the major themes and motifs of The Hulk are "Super Strength" and "Invulnerability."

I'm sorry, but I am incapable of seeing storytelling in those terms. Invariable, a "who could beat up who" speculation is only worthwhile to me if both characters are interesting to begin with.

 

I do think people should use more obscure characters, as you've done here, I just wish they'd use good (or at least interesting) ones. How many Sentry fights has the CBUB hosted? Compare that to the number of Kid Miracleman fights. Do you understand the difference?

Loose Cannon is a Hulk ripoff who changes into all the colors of the rainbow.

Jeph Loeb wrote "World War Hulks" which was about a rainbow of Hulks punching each other.

Hmmm... I'm sensing a recurring theme. Are there any rainbows in Jeph's Batman work?

I would hope that, through the process of inference, it would at least be clear that The Sentry sucks major balls and that Kid Miracleman is one of the greatest contributions to the medium of comics in the last thirty years, and that they have similar powers.

if cannon is on par with supes in strength then apparently we have a battle worth talking about and if i reduced the hulk then i would have told you i reduced the hulk in the set-up...i see matches on here that are ridiculous. this is a good battle and thats that. heres some of hulks blow out battle on EF. hulk v. hulk hogan, hulk v blanka, hulk vs. optimus...i can go on forever. those are joke matches my friend. lol these are similar characters with similar ABILITIES. seems fair to me.

so your saying i should re-write? lol i can if that's what needs to be done. i won't make hulk out to be the fugitive on the run and portray him as a bad guy if that helps. other than that how did i REDUCE the hulk. that's my only ?

I'd say that's up to you, man. Either way, take heed of what Ivan is saying. He's virtually one of the original EF'ers and, from what I've heard, one of the best FPL writers.

They have virtually identical powers, but the Hulk is a complex and interesting character, whereas Loose Cannon is best known for being a poor ripoff of The Hulk. I'm saying that BECAUSE their powers are so similar, nobody except a rabid DC fanboy looking to hate on Marvel would vote for Loose Cannon. The match you're proposing requires erasing the Hulk's personality, history, and characterization, which are the only parts of the character anyone cares about! Proof for this statement can be found in Loose Cannon, actually- the two characters have the same powers, but one is a centerpiece of a major franchise, and the other is an "also-ran" from 1993.

it's more than just powers and abilities for you. which is how it should be. I'm new in the EF but try to put effort into my writings. i'm in no way shape or form the greatest either. now i wish cannon would have had more dc issues and not just the very few he did have. it would make this match more interesting i think. but cannon was short lived for a reason apparently (pry being a hulk spin-off). but anyway thanks for the advice and i hope you tell me about my other matchesif you have any advice. criticism is the key to quality story writing.

In an issue of Justice League Task Force Loose Cannon punched Martian Manhunter and J'onn went flying! I might be wrong but I don't think that Hulk could hit J'onn hard enougth to do that!
