She looked down at her invitation. “This must be the place.†Before she entered she was stopped by another woman, Maki Genryusai. “Excuse me, do you know if this is the Sou-Setsu-Ken Dojo?†asked Maki. “I believe it is. I was looking for it myself. Let’s check it out together,†said Blaze. “Ok,†agreed Maki. “My name is Maki by the way.†Blaze extended a hand. “Blaze, pleasure to meet you.†After they entered the dojo the two women were immediately greeted by the Lee brothers, Jimmy and Billy, also known as the Double Dragon. “Ladies welcome. So glad you could make it,†said Jimmy. “Would someone like to explain what is going on,†replied Blaze. “I received a message that someone was in desperate need of help.†“And we are,†assured Billy. “For years we have protected Metro City from the Black Warriors. But as of late they have become too strong and we can no longer do it on our own. We are looking for an ally to help us clean up the streets and return Metro City to its former glory. Both of you have vast experience in this area so that’s why we requested your help.†“Unfortunately, my brother and I couldn’t agree on which one of you we wanted so that’s why we invited you both,†said Jimmy. Blaze lifted an eyebrow. “Which one of us? If you’re in that much trouble, shouldn’t you want both of us?†Billy nodded. “Theoretically yes. But that’s just not the way it’s done. You know that as well as I do, Blaze Fielding. When you rid a city of a criminal organization it’s always done in threes. When you took out Mr. X and the Syndicate, it was with Axel Stone and Adam Hunter...†Maki snapped her fingers and pointed at Blaze. “I knew that name sounded familiar. I’ve heard of you.†Billy turned his attention to Maki. “And you, Maki Genryusai, when you took down Mad Gear it was with Mike Haggar and Carlos Miyamoto. It is always done in threes. It’s a tradition we dare not challenge.†“Wait a minute,†said Blaze. “I always heard that Mad Gear was toppled by Mike Haggar, Cody Travers, and Guy. And wasn’t it here in Metro City?†“That was the first time, and it’s a different Metro City,†Maki corrected. “It’s not exactly an uncommon name,†Jimmy lamented. “Which is not important. What is important is that we need our third. Since my brother and I can’t come to an accord, we want you to fight for it. We want the best,†explained Billy. “Excuse me?!? Fight for it? That has got to be the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard,†Blaze exclaimed. “You guys are morons and I don’t even think I want to help you now.†“I have to agree with Blaze. Besides it wouldn’t be fair. She is just a cop, I am a practitioner of Bushin-ryu,†commented Maki. “What? Just a cop?†repeated Blaze. Maki shrugged. “No offense, Blaze, but it is what it is.†Blaze snapped,“Well this simple cop over her took down the Syndicate three times with just my fists. Oh and my short range fireball. I don’t think your resume can stand up to that. I don’t care what you practice, the technique can’t be too impressive or somebody would mention you once in awhile instead of just Cody, Guy, and Haggar.†“You ignorant twit, the Bushin-ryu is the same technique Guy uses, and I am better at it than he is,†retorted Maki. “Somehow I doubt that,†said Blaze. Maki’s fiery temper was now on full display. “I will not have my skills questioned by some street fighter cop. Maybe you would like a demonstration of my abilities to wisen you up.†The two fighters stood nose to nose before Blaze replied, “If your itching for a fight, bring it on sister.†Jimmy leaned over to Billy and whispered, “This is going to be great.
