Mercer who wakes up in a morgue in the basement of Gentek, a genetic engineering company based in Manhattan, sending a pair of scientists that were just about to perform an autopsy running. Alex escapes, and witnesses the scientists being gunned down by military operatives. Alex is discovered and attacked. He survives bullets being fired into his chest, and leaps over a wall to safety. He soon discovers he now possesses powerful shapeshifting abilities, superhuman strength, speed, agility, durability, endurance, weaponry and the ability to "consume" people to gain their memories, skills and appearance. With no memory of his previous life, Alex decides to find and consume those related to the conspiracy in order to uncover the truth. During his quest, Alex faces two factions: the United States Marine Corps and Blackwatch, a Fort Detrick special forces unit dedicated to combating biological warfare; and the Infected, monsters created by a virus known as BLACKLIGHT that is overrunning Manhattan. Alex continues to run and is attack by a mutation and with little effort at all Alex grabs the beast as it attacks again and breaks it. Then more and more Blacklight soldiers charge in and Alex slings out draining tendril and then there is an explosion and Alex has disappeared or has he. Alex awakes in the world of Unity. Still with no memory Alex tries to get a grasp on the reality of the events that has happened. Then soldiers and thunderbeasts that serve and protect the Mothergod come and surround the fallen Alex and then mothergod joins then by hovering and landing near Alex. Mothergod:"Alex?" "Alex Mercer?" "Is this you my brother?" she said in the voice of Dana Mercer. Alex looked up and saw his sister but truly it was Mothergod. Alex:"Is this really you my sister?" "Why are you/we here what happened to me!?!" Mothergod/Dana Mercer:"It okay my brother we are here together and now we are going to reshape the world!" "However there is war happening here in this haven and a mighty general leads these Blacklight soldiers(-which isn't true-). His name is Aric and he wears a powerful suit of armour that is truly formidable. However with your new found powers maybe you can destroy this XO Manowar for me. And under her charms Alex stood up and said:"I will my sister!" "For the future!" And so Alex Mercer seeked out the XO Manowar and Unity is a battle to have a big clash!
