JohnnyChany Posted May 28, 2012 Share Posted May 28, 2012 A gravely serious man in glasses and a middle aged bald man meet together in a dimly lit storage closet. “This setting is a little too intimate for my liking, Henry,†says the bald man. “It is all that we can do, David. You know as well as I that there are eyes and ears everywhere and it is too dangerous to discuss topics such as these in public,†replies the man in glasses. “Topics such as what?†David asks. “Brand.†“Brand? Abigail Brand?†“Yes.†Henry adjusts his glasses. “In her current position she jeopardizes the safety of our planet.†“If you are referring to the incident with Ord, you know she has already faced the board of inquiry on the subject and they decided to keep her as the head of S.W.O.R.D. There’s not much we can we do.†“An astoundingly foolish decision that I refuse to suffer for. It’s not just the Breakworld incident,†Henry insists. “Are you aware that she is only half human, and the other half is alien?†“I was not. You are sure of this?†“Yes. She can even produce a coat of blue energy flames on her hands. You tell me, do you trust the safety of the human race to a woman who is not entirely human herself?†David thinks it over. “No. But as I said before, the decision was already made. Our hands are tied. Unless of course, you are planning some sort of uprising against her or another formal investigation.†Henry scoffs. “Hardly. There are other more permanent, less bureaucratic ways to remove someone from their position.†David lifts an eyebrow. “You mean..†“Yes. We eliminate her and thus remove the threat,†answers Henry. “Between the two of us we certainly know enough guns for hire. You can’t throw a rock fifteen feet without hitting some kind of mercenary. But, I can’t think of many that would qualify for such a target. We are talking about the top agent of S.W.O.R.D. here, she is highly trained and extremely difficult to even reach much less kill. And, assuming the hit man was somehow successful I can’t think of many people that would be able to withstand the interrogation that followed to give up their employers.†Henry smiles and adjusts his glasses again. “Who said anything about using a person?†An expression of realization splashes over David’s face. “You want to use the android. Of course. I was beginning to wonder why you had specifically come to me.†“Exactly, Aphrodite IX. You are the only one I know with access to her. She is incredibly strong and uniquley skilled in infiltration and assassination. Best of all, her programming makes it so that she forgets the details of her assignment upon completion. Think about it David, she was created for a mission like this.†“It would be an excellent challenge for her,†David says. “Let’s do it.†With a deal in place, the two conspirators exit the storage closet.
