Guest a guy
. Spawn crouched on a rooftop, his cape billowing in the wind. The sky was dark, the stars barley visible. Spawn watched as couples pass, sighing as a young couple walked by, helping their daughter walk. "AAAAAHHH!" The silence was shattered by a man's screams, pounding against Spawn's ears. He ran to the sound thinking, (Great, more dumb punks trying to hurt innocent people.) He jumped down to a lower roof. (Well, I'll make sure they learn.) He looked down an alley, where three men had cornered a couple. He frowned, growling. The man held his lover in his arms, both terrified. One of the muggers stepped forward, tapping a crowbar against the flat of his hand. "Well, I got me an idea," He said, his long hair falling over one eye, "You pay us all ya got, an' I only kill him." He finished, pointing to the man.As he raised the crowbar, a chain flew from the shadows, wrapping around it. "I've got a better idea." Spawn's voice rumbled, echoing in the alley. The chains pulled him back into the shadows. A few short screams were heard, as his thugs looked around, scared. Spawn flew out, tackling the larger of the two and crashing him into the wall. The mugger slid down, blood trailing after his head. The last tried to swing a knife at Spawn, who stepped aside. He grabbed the mugger's arm, then snapped it back, blood spattered the ground, and the man's bone pushed through the wound. Howling with pain, he passed out, falling to the ground. Spawn looked back to the couple, both of whom were still frozen in fear. "It's okay, don't be afraid." He said, turning to leave.A hand grabbed his shoulder, turning him around. Spawn gasped as he saw the couple transform, becoming hideous demons. The man, now resembling the violator, threw Spawn against the wall. As he crashed against it, the woman grabbed him, tossing him into a dumpster. It bent inward, the metal groaning. Spawn barley had time to gasp, "What the?", before being grasped by the man, who punched him in the face. Blood dripped from Spawn's costume as he kneeled on the ground. "Who, the hell are you?!" He asked, coughing. The man clutched him, "Messengers,", he replyed, squeezing Spawn. He slammed the young Hellspawn into the wall, cracking his back. Spawn shouted, but was cut off by another squeeze. "I have...." It said, leaning into Spawn's face, "Only two words for you: Nikki wood." Spawn gasped as the demon dropped him. The two demons fled into the night, leaving Spawn to his thoughts.(Nikki.) Spawn thought, kneeling on all fours. (Old friend of mine. Or really Wanda's. I remember, she and her boy friend, Li, were old friends of Wanda's. She introduced us in '75, and her son Robin. She was nice, but seemed occupied all the time.) As he stood, his face fell, and he remembered. (She was murdered in 1977. We knew something was odd. She had had her neck broken. On top of a subway train.) He thought sadly, walking out of the alley. Hours later, he stood on a rooftop, looking at an old Apartament building. (Nikki used to live here.) He thought, knowing he'd find an awnser. (I was on the investigation team, Wanda insisted.) He thought, opening the window to her old apartment. (I never found any awnsers. I've always regretted it.) He looked around inside, eventually forcing open a drawer. In it was a piece of paper, with the word "VAMPIRE" stamped across the top. "Vampires?" Spawn whispered, looking at the sheet. Several names were listed, and a few locations. Spawn recognized many of the names, as they had been in police reports. Supposedly, they had been under the infuence of PCP. Behind him, the door began to open. Quickly, he jumped out the window.Later he sat at a 'borrowed' police computer, searching for PCP related incidents. They seemed to be focusing in a single town. "Sunnydale." Spawn muttered, standing. (It seems I have work to do.)

Guest skadoosh
Buffy gets f*cked up by Spawn, at any level. Maybe in his first state Buffy could get some hits in, but it wouldn't matter. Unless shes got some Heavenly weapons, or something else of immense, destructive, magical power, then she's screwed, and Spawn takes her down easily. Guest sirmethos
Are you people reading the setup at all? There is absolutely nothing in the setup, that outright puts Spawn and Buffy in a fight against each other. Let alone Buffy without back-up. There is also nothing to indicate when the fight is taking place. For all we know, it could take place during the last season, after the Awakening, in which case Spawn would be facing, not just Buffy, but Buffy with a horde of junior-slayers as back-up, as well as Willow and Spike. Or Spawn does some more investigation after he reaches Sunnydale, and finds out that there is no reason to fight Buffy since she's one of the good guys. Guest skadoosh
I read it, and i'm making the safe assumption that they end up in a fight, similar to how most crossovers go. And Spawn would wipe the floor with Buffy's little Slayer-army, along with Spike and the rest. None of them can handle what Spawn can dish out, and if they can take one of his various ways of killing them, he's got a lot more to utilize. While Giles or Willow, or both, might be able to use some big, powerful spell to banish him or do something to his soul, it wont work quickly enough, and Spawn will have killed them all before they've finished chanting Latin. Guest skadoosh
If i recall correctly, Al Simmons' soul is all that's left of him, and his body is composed entirely of Necroplasm, making him very difficult to injure, let alone kill. Buffy having an Angelic weapon does give her an edge, and while Spawn is fast enough to dodge the arrows she fires, as they can only move so fast, in a close-up fight with the blades Buffy has more of a chance of winning because she's pretty damn fast herself. However, Spawn has far too many ways to kill her, even in his earlier stages of power and experience, so he wins this. And you get an OK from me, dude. Guest LoneWolf
A. Thanks B. It is isanely hard to make balanced matches for Spawn while still keeping in the traditional "Spawn Ambieance" For some reason people always say "Spawn is God-like, he can destroy the universe". Referring to 'God-Spawn' of course (which he was for merely a few issues out of the entire run). If some one uses Spiderman, it isn't Captain Universe Spiderman (the ultra powerful one), unless specifically stated. The default Spawn was about on par with Spiderman or classic 90's Ghost Rider (again, another character who is wrongly stated to be an omnipotent cosmic being). Buffy still doesn't stand a chance.Venom might be a closer example than Spiderman. If you watch the animated HBO series, which Todd obviously endorsed as accurate, you can see that he isn't really all that powerful. His costume and powers seem to be a mesh of Ghost Rider (undead, the chains, hellfire etc..), Venom (intelligent, symbiotic costume that can alter his appearance) and Dr. Strange (cloak, particularly the part around his head, and markings, hand gestures, his magic like teleporting). AVP vs The Terminator
That was Spawn at his best as a character... Before they started piling on the pointless power-ups.

Guest force_echo
The TV series wasn't an accurate stating of his power. Ever since he learned Magic from Harry Houdini, Spawn is pretty much capable of doing almost anything, it's just that his counter limits him from doing any of it. Spawn's powerups really had nothing to do with his character quality at all. When he had near omniscient, he was still an interesting character, if nor more so, then the original Spawn. AVP vs The Terminator
I never found him to be a particularly interesting character regardless of the incarnation, but I dislike the idea of heroes becoming overtly powerful. When they can do pretty much anything they want, I start finding them boring. There are exceptions, obviously, such as Dr Manhattan, the Dream from Sandman, Lucifer from DC etc, but for the most part I dislike that type of character. I'm not sure why, guess it's just a peeve of mine.
Guest LoneWolf
The hero is supposed to be the one fighting impossible odds. The more challenge, the harder the struggle and more grueling the story the better. That's why I liked Sin City so much.. A man barely able to walk, on his last legs... still fighting on even though he knows he is going to die, because he knows he has to.

Guest force_echo
Spawn Endgame took place after he killed Malebolgia and was extremely powerful. It's my favorite Spawn arc because it highlights the human condition and the "restraints" put on his power, not physical restraints, but restraints based on the responsibility and consequences of using that power, and how Spawn perceives himself to be a part of the human condition itself. That's Spawn (and indeed, superhuman stories in general) at it's best, and the story was extremely moving. A must read for any Spawn fan.
