They are fighting in an empty courtyard, each armed with a broadsword, and to win one must incapacitate the other. They know nothing of each other prior to the fight. The fight will last as long as it has to.

Well honestly, I'd go with Giles. Guy could be a badass when he wanted to be and would at least be familiar with a sword due to his fencing.

Van Helsing hunts vampires with research and preparation; Giles actually kills them up-close a lot of the time, plus he knows offensive magic too. He wins without much trouble.

Guiles has survived encounters with demons, vampires, and alot of monsters. Plus Guiles actually helped defeat Willow when she was about to destroy the world with her magic. Guiles wins
