Match 12431 Sherlock Holmes vs. Jack the Ripper

"Holmes?"

Watson walked into the once- again oddly arranged room of his collleague and close friend Sherlock Holmes. This time, what looked very disturbingly like blood was splattered over the room, with the newspapers of the recent Whitechapel murders nailed to almost every inch of wall space.

"All right Holmes, this is gruesome even for you. And I can SEE you behind that coat." Sherlock stepped out from behind the hanger, clearly disappointed. "I must say Watson, you arrived much earlier than I expected. Given time, I would have fooled you again." Watson shrugged, "You've seen the letters, Holmes? This time our dear 'Jack' has sent a message directly to you. He wants you involved in this case very badly..."

As Holmes sat down Watson saw drawings all over his friend, apparently marking the wounds of every single Whitechapel victim. "Yes, Watson. And I've already been working on it. I am not only close to divulging his identity, but I do believe I can find his next target. One whose vulnerable, isolated, and not doing quite well financially..." Watson raised an eyebrow. "Holmes, you DO realize that applies to every single victim so far? Every woman of the night in the area fits that description."

Lighting his pipe Holmes smiled. "Well, we have to start somewhere, don't we Watson?"

***

Somewhere in Whitechapel, a shadowy figure sharpened his favored knife, watching through a telescope as Holmes and Watson rode by with the ever irritating Lestrade and the chief investigator Abberline. Soon, Holmes. Soon we'll see if you're as good as the Professor said. He put his hat on, tightened his black velvet mask, and eyed his list, wondering which of the whores would taste his blade tonight.

(Sherlock Holmes from the Guy Ritchie films vs the Ripper of legend. Who wins the battle of wits?)

Pretty good set-up, Supes. A little short, but it tells a good story. Matchup's been done, but it apparently happened before the current version of EF was made.

As for the match, if Robert Downey's Sherlock is anywhere as good at deduction as most other incarnations of Holmes, he shouldn't really have a problem catching Jack.

Well gee, no shit Rob. I thought you were gonna answer it. [/sarcasm] :P

Anyway, it's pretty decent. The main focus is on finding clues for the Ripper case, and that gets tedious and frustrating as hell sometimes. I got sick of the game after a while and never really finished it. I was pretty close though, IIRC. I might complete it one of these days.

Sounds interesting. I find it cheap enough, I might check it out.

Thanks. I think I'm getting the hang of this site, I was in a bit of a rush when I wrote the set up.
