My statement wasn't opinion, it was fact. Most people think the Alien franchise is better than the Predator franchise.

 

And I am telling you that it's their opinion.

I don't think the two franchises can really be compared. One is an atmospheric sci-fi/horror set in the future, while the other is a modern, violent action thriller set in the present day. Sure, both present a mysterious, alien life-form as the primary antagonist, but aside from the crossovers that's about the only thing they have in common.

 

They tried hashing them together into one movie, twice, and... well, we all saw how that turned out. It didn't work, so they split the two franchises up again and brought them back to their roots (with Predators and Prometheus, respectively) in an attempt to distance the two franchises from one another and expand on their respective universes.

 

In terms of which franchise is "better", it will always come down to personal taste since the franchises really don't share many traits that can be compared. I personally prefer the Alien movies, but that's simply because I prefer sci-fi and psychological horror to the mindless action offered by the Predator films.

 

For example, I know quite a few people who would dislike Alien's slow-moving plot, and prefer Predator's faster pace. Like I said, it comes down to personal preference more than anything else.

Yeah, they split the two franchises but that doesn't mean that the idea of AvP has been retconned out. Twentieth Century Fox still considers the Alien vs Predator films to be canon as they never really do any retcons, however the AvP films are not in the same continuity as PREDATORS or Prometheus. So are the franchises really separated?

 

No, not really considering that Fox is still issuing liscenses for the Alien vs Predator franchise to still be produced.

 

An IPod and Droid AvP game is in the works with a storyline, I believe.

Well, I'm more familiar with Scarface, Dachande and the Alien Warrior in AvP2 (PC) because I've played their respective games and read the novels. I'm not sure if you have, but to me those three are just as bad-ass as Wolf. Infact... Wolf was based off of Dachande.

 

But yeah, I guess it could be an opinion.

James Cameron has explicity stated that he has retired from franchise films. He wants to do original material instead.

 

So for him to return to ALIEN and Terminator, it's not going to happen.
