A real supernova would have taken out the planet Sephy and Cloud were on, the solar system the planet inhabited and any other nearby solar systems. Jean Grey is only vulnerable when she wants to be. In this set up she's obviously completely possessed by the Phoenix Force. There's no stopping her.
