I have no choice but to destroy him thinks Dr Manhattan as he reads Batman's mind from the slightest touch of his fingertips to the Dark Knights cowl.15 minutes ago: Nov 1st 1985Batman stands to confront Adrian Veidt in the control room of his arctic super-complex: Karnak"I know everything Veidt! I retraced the Comedians infiltration of your secret base. I know about the missing scientists and artists you've used to create your false flag alien attack. I've seen the mass grave of your most trusted confidants. Its over." Batman commands to Ozymandias from across the room.An arrogant smirk crosses Ozymandias' face. "It has only just begun."Ozy turns to his control board preparing to type in the sequence that will transport the counterfeit alien squid into Times Square in New York City. A code sequence is quickly entered on the keyboard but before it is initiated, he sees a spinning batarang in the corner of his eye.With bullet catching reflexes, Ozymandias simultaneously catches the batarang out of the air and ninja-flip-reverse-sommersaults out of the way of 2 others."How boring." He says disapprovingly, as he crushes the 'rang in his hand.Batman already rushing toward him, closes the gap.An epic battle of tacticle martial arts genius ensues. Batman gains the advantage over Ozymandias' faggotry and breaks his nose, snaps his wrist, and dislocates his arm.Ozymandias realizing he is on the losing end of the battle, calls out among the furious attacks he is barely able to avoid: "BUBASTIS ATTACK!"Bubastis, a genetically modified homosexual bunny-tiger, attacks from the shadows. Batman avoids the lethal flying claw swipe while stabbing a half dozen knockout darts into the animals neck. It crashes to the floor unconscious as Batman turns to see Ozymandius finishing the code sequence and send it."You cannot STOP IT Batman! Its too late!" Ozy yells with a shake of his fist, blood pouring down his face."Stop it?" Batman calmy replies, "Do you actually believe id let you get so close to mass murder? Who do you think you're dealing with here? I stopped it 6 months ago."6 months ago:Bruce Wayne and Adrian Veidt share a celebratory drink."Can you believe it Bruce? We are on the verge of the greatest R and D merger the world has ever seen! It is an exciting time. Together, we will save the world." Adrian says as he raises his glass to his partner, Bruce Wayne.Bruce raises his glass and smirks to himself how incredibly easy it was to infiltrate Veidt's company.10 minutes ago:"Bruce Waynes R and D department has already infiltrated your teleportation system. The coordinates you intended for New York City have been intercepted and redirected to an uninhabited section of the Saharra desert." Batman explains."...no" Veidt says while dropping to his knees. "You have doomed the world to nuclear war! Russia and the United States will launch anyday now!"Batman cuffs Ozymandias and raises him to his feet. "Waynetech industries has control over all nuclear warheads in Russia and the US through their security software contracts. They won't be able to launch until Bruce Wayne gives his express permission. Which won't be easily given.""It will happen you know," Veidt replies. "20. 30 years from now there will be nuclear war. You have stopped earths salvation, that's all you've done.""Adrien is right you know. At best you can only delay the inevitable. Whatever can happen does happen, afterall." Dr Manhattan says as he teleports into the room, Silk Specter becoming sick next to him."You don't know that forsure!" Batman growls back. "Your emotions are being manipulated by the tachion particles and impeding your visions of the future! Try John! Try to see your future!"Dr. Manhattan seems to almost stumble as he puts his hand to his head "...I, cant I... can't see. For some reason I am not here in the future. "Ozymandias now. His final retort. "Remember what I told you before John, You can change almost anything! But you can't change..."Batman recognizes the MK Ultra mind control program trigger the post hypnotic suggestion deeply buried into Dr. Manhattan's psyche, too late.Batman elbows Ozymandias' jaw into shattered glass before he can speak another word. Dr. Manhattan finishes the phrase "I can't change human nature."The transition is complete, Dr Manhattan is now employing a premeditated sequence designed to carry out Adrian Veidt's backup plan. Objective one: Eliminate all witnesses."John? What's going on?" Are Silk Specter's last words before she is vaporized by Manhattan's super-combustive powers.Silk Specter's splintered-bone and gore spray Dr. Manhattan's scowled face as he focuses his super-combustive energys on Batman's position, to find him no longer there."Its no use Batman. Even if I can't predict where you are, I can still turn the walls to glass." Dr. Manhattan says calmly."I should thank you," he continues, "without you I would not be able to save our world."Batman's white phantom eyes suddenly appear behind Dr Manhattan. "Don't thank me yet."Dr Manhattan swiftly turns his head, his eye meets the pointy end of a specialized batarang that absorbs all known currents of the electromagentic spectrum.Dr Manhattan doubles back in pain and covers his impaled eye socket. Half blinded, he focuses his super-combustive energies onto Batman's form.Batman's superspeed reflexes kick in, but far too late.Batman's armored chest plate combusts into vaporized carbon as Batman is thrown against the wall from the ensuing explosion.Dr Manhattan calmy approaches the Dark Knight, pulling the Batarang from his eye socket. "Your device absorbed .01% of my power, not to mention spoiling my aim. Is that the best you have to offer? You are supposedly the most Dangerous Man in the World? You pose no more threat to me than its most dangerous termite. Any last words?"Batman struggling to recover, manages to stand. "I can't convince you...with words. I can only...urge you to try to see things my way...thru my memories."Dr Manhattan considers the situation, and makes his decision. "Very well. 60 seconds from now I will decide your memories have no intrinsic value. You have sealed your fate."Dr Manhattan forces the memories from Batmans neural pathways. Batman screams. His brain begins to hemorrhage. Dr Manhattan thinks to himself. The trauma this man has faced, both psycologically and physically, knows no bounds.Dr Manhattan releases his hold and Batman falls to the floor gasping, catching himself on his forearm, blood streaming from his eyes and face then pooling on the ground.Dr Manhattan sardonically, " That? was what you wanted to show me? The tortured life of a man fighting an enternal, unwinnable battle? What did you hope to accomplish with your last request?""A lot." Batman replies. "The Batarang I stabbed you with saturated your molecules with inverse-tachion hyper-particles. While you were distracted veiwing my lifetime of memories, I was accessing and veiwing yours as well."Dr Manhattan attempts to command his reality and shift the proper particles into the correct order of destructive combustion in the space Batman is occupying. Nothing happens. He cannot concentrate.Batman continues as he climbs to his feet. "I was able to mold specific memories of yours into an entropy-based infinite time-loop. The ITH particles will erase everything else that you ever have, or ever will, remember. As this happens you will enter a phase shift and eventually dissipate into your original state, a worthless mass of energy."Dr Manhattan gives Batman a final, fear-filled look of complete understanding. His eyes appear to glaze over as he stands there unable to move, re-living his memories in an interconnecting infinite loop out of time, unable to ever grasp the present again.Dr Manhattan fades. Then pops out of existence.Nov 1st 1985 11:55 PMNite Owl and Rorschach approach the entrance of Ozymandias' control room. Batman appears in the doorway with an unconcious Adrian Veidt slung over is shoulder."A little late boys." Batman says thru a growl as he passes inbetween their shocked faces. "Stick to retirement, or ill be back for you both."Too scared to speak, the duo wait in complete silence until they are absolutely sure Batman has left the complex. I only got a chance to skim through this earlier, but now that I've gotten the chance to read it fully... This is pretty bad. A poorly-written, biased story with several completely nonsensical scientific terms thrown in, as well as a couple of random homosexuality digs. D from me. Sorry but neither have shown the ability to face someone like Batman. Rorschach got beat up by a bunch of thugs and hasn't shown any skill close to Batman. Nite Owl is good but not on Batman's level. Its almost as if Betterman was throwing together words that sounded 'sciencey' to explain you beating a much more powerful cosmic entity while at the same time overestimating youre potential influence in global affairs. You dont make missels and even if you did you couldnt tell two superpowers when they could use them. And you wouldnt be the only defence contractor in the world espcially since the soviets would make their own anyway.Infiltrating veidts company would hardly be easy nor would fighting him be. Rorshack and Nite Owl would not be afraid of you by any means. Its almost as if Betterman was undermining characters he did not like while throwing in the occasional homophobic slur, and completely ignoring the point of leaving an open ending for votes, because he is just an unusally elloquent troll.
