corvette1710 Posted November 5, 2012 Share Posted November 5, 2012 Chain Story ****** Into the warehouse they went, only to be opposed by one called Taskmaster. He was fast, so very fast, but not quite good enough to beat the duo of Batman and Robin. He was down when they began throwing punches-- that is to say, Robin's brash actions cost him, nearly with his life. The first thing Batman did, was obscure Taskmaster's vision with a smoke bomb, tinting the room a dark gray color. Then he set wires in crisscrossing patterns all around the floor. He threw another bomb, giving himself more time as he set an electrical current along the wires, which conducted electricity well due to their metallic nature. Then he located Taskmaster and Robin, and found he was conveniently behind the former. He wrapped his cape around his face, the kevlar weave holding up as Taskmaster struggled. It let minimal amounts of air in, making his breath short and therefore his punches weaker. And what punches he threw, rebounding and rebounding off of the Dark Knight's ribs, sharp cracking sounds pronouncing each blow. But still the Bat remained stoic, staring with his teeth clenched at a spot on the wall as he suffocated Taskmaster. He stopped moving, finally, and Batman removed his cape, setting a small device on Taskmaster's temple, which clicked as be pressed down on it. "What's that?" Damian asked, arms crossed. Batman turned his head to face him. "A sonic transmitter. A device which emits short-range sonic sounds which I've set to detect this man's conscious brain function, so when he wakes up it'll put him back to sleep." Robin nodded, saying nothing. "Let's move on. They must be here somewhere." The Bat sounded tired. "You alright?" He vaguely heard Robin ask. Then the Bat collapsed, the adrenaline that had been fueling him gone, and all he felt was pain. Robin ran his hands through his hair. "Oh God... Oh God..." he kept repeating. "Wake up, Bruce! We need to do this!" After ten minutes of this, he found it obvious he wasn't waking up any time soon. He couldn't take him home... he might be bleeding internally... he could only call Alfred. "Alfred? Alfred, can you hear me?" "Yes, Master Damian." Came the reply. "May I indulge to ask why you are using Master Bruce's communicator?" "Long story short, it broke. I need you to come get him, he's been wounded, possibly bleeding internally. Definitely cracked or broken ribs." "I'll be over there soon, Master Damian." "Thanks." "Will that be all?" "Yes." He closed the link and stepped quietly into the next room. It was dark, very dark, to the point that everything was a layered shadow. Grayer here than there, black as night here, gray as dusk there. He clutched a sonic transmitter, taking care not to click the button. Suddenly, he was hit in the stomach. He doubled over. He was hit in the face, knocking him onto his back. The transmitter fell from his grasp. He rolled back to his feet, looking around and finding no assailant. "Where? Where are you?" A slurping sound greeted him from the dark, and a nearly indiscernible figure appeared to his eyes. It was greenish to him, definitely wearing black, like a ninja. Its eyes shone bright yellow, its tail whipped side to side. It pounced. Damian barely avoided it, redirecting the thing over him and into a wall. He was quickly back on his feet, as was the thing. "What are you?" Damian asked himself as the creature pounced again. This time it was successful and they both went to the floor. ****** Sorry it wasn't longer, but I hope you like it regardless. I'd be fairly surprised if he didn't, but you never know how those votes will turn out. The votes are wrong often enough to not matter, at least, not to me, personally, but as long as we know who really wins it's fine. There isn't anything Damien could pull out of his belt (like a taser) that could stun or delay Reptile? Yes, but: Reptile deals with much worse.
