The Setting: Thunderfoot village

Deep in the plains of Mexico, exists a lone tribe of Native American warriors known as the Thunderfoots. On one fateful day, their treasured land was stolen from them by an evil dictator and his henchmen. Their tribe leader, Arroyo Hawk, was killed in the conflict. His son, Thunder Hawk, swore revenge against these invaders, not just because they killed his father, but because they also kidnapped several woman in the tribe, including T. Hawk's beloved wife, Juli. T. Hawk grew up to be a tall and mighty warrior and entered many fighting tournaments to improve his abilities during his journey.

A few years later, T. Hawk finally found his wife living in a remote cottage in the rainforest. But she was not the Juli he once knew. Brainwashed by the corporation known as Shadaloo, she was but a shell of her former self. Shadaloo's leader, General M. Bison, the man who also killed T. Hawk's father, was directly responsable. The bulky warrior then returned to his homeland. The tribe chief decided that T. Hawk should be the next tribe leader, but T. Hawk refused, believing himself to be unworthy of that title. Recently, T. Hawk has met his old friend El Fuerte, who is now a luchador and part-time chef. After a quick sparring match, the two decided to meet up at El Fuerte's restaurant.

"How do you like the food, amigo?" asked El Fuerte.

"It's... different... but, uh, good. *gags*" said T. Hawk, trying not to hurt El Fuerte's feelings.

"It's OK, amigo! If you don't like it, I'll just make you something else!" said El Fuerte, enthusiastically.

"Sigh..." said T. Hawk.

Bored, T. Hawk grabs a remote control and switches on a TV in the corner of the room. The only channel it shows is a news channel. T. Hawk tries smacking the remote, trying to get it to turn over to a different channel, but the new reader suddenly mentions thunderfoot village.

"Huh? Did he just say thunderfoot village?" wonders T. Hawk.

"Breaking news! Thunderfoot village in the plains of Mexico has suffered an unknown major crisis! Many villages are dead, possibly from an attack from Shadaloo, but no one knows what exactly caused this destruction." said the news reporter.

"SHADALOO!!" yells T. Hawk.

T. Hawk immediatly rushes out the restaurant back to thunderfoot village. There he finds the whole village in ruins. He sees a reporter and camera crew nearby. T. Hawk rushes up to them and grabs the reporter by the throat.

"What happened here!? Where is my tribe!?" yells T. Hawk, gripping tighter on the reporter's throat.

"GAH! There... were no survivors..." gasped the reporter.

"God damn it!"

T. Hawk wandered round the burning village, looking for survivors. He finds one young boy trapped under a plank of wood.

"Who did this?" asked T. Hawk.

"They... had green skin... allergic to..." said the dying child

"Allergic to what?"

"AAAARGH!!" yells the boy as his head catches fire. T. Hawk puts it out with a bucket of water, but the poor boy was already dead.

T. Hawk sheds a tear as he lifts the plank off of the boy and picks him up. As he turns around, he sees something scuttling around in a tent. T. Hawk goes to investigate, and finds a green-skinned humanoid alien hiding in the tent.

"What the hell!?"

T. Hawk puts down the boy as the alien charges towards him. T. Hawk grabs it by the throat and breaks it's neck without hesitation. Suddenly, more aliens start coming out of the other tents. One alien slips and falls into the bucket of water, killing it.

"Good god... I go in here looking for Shadaloo soldiers, and instead I find a bunch of hydrophobic aliens!"

And so, the fight begins! It's T. Hawk vs an army of 30 Signs Aliens! Who wins?

The aliens in signs have to be some of the worst alien invaders ever, they're vulnerable to wood, water and kitchen knives.

The only thing they have in their advantage is they're in a desert and they can blend in like a chameleon, T Hawk for the win

Excellent set-up and I have to agree with Merc on this one even though the aliens to have there deadly poisonous gas, they are still some pretty crappy aliens. T. Hawk will win but he will have to avoid the gas.

Good set-up, potter. Nice storyline for T-Hawk.

As for the match, I guessing T-Hawk stronger and a better fighter than these aliens (as well as knows their weakness), but since I haven't seen all of Signs, I can't quite be sure I fully know what the aliens are capable of. It does seems the aliens' numbers and abilities could give T-Hawk some trouble, though.

I'm pretty sure they're not actually aliens.

Doesn't change the fact that they lose, but I wanted to point that out.

Well, yeah they are. They're from a different planet, so they're aliens. Kind of a stupid thing to say.

Oh, straight to the insults, then? Alrighty.

And you know this for a fact, do you? Never once in the film does it state they're from another planet. To clarify my original comment, there's a theory that's floated around the Internet stating that they're not aliens -- they're demons. After I read everything this theory laid out, I was pretty convinced. There's actually significant evidence to support it. In my opinion, it's every bit as (if not more) viable as the alien theory.

They're called aliens, so they're aliens. They may seem demonic, but the film is filed under 'Science Fiction', so I think that's what the makers of the movie intended it to be. I wasn't trying to insult you, it was just a bit weird you saying that the Signs Aliens aren't aliens without explaining it properly. Just saying.

No, they're not. The movie doesn't make a point call them aliens, actually. There are sparing mentions to extraterrestrials, but overall they're mostly just referred to as "they" or something like that. And I'm not so sure about the second part; the film definitely strikes me as thriller first, sci-fi second. Besides, even M. Night has subtly implied this theory and never once to my knowledge stated they're specifically aliens.

Just to throw a few more things out there:

-- Weakness to water is a traditional part of demonic lore.

-- Crop circles and cattle mutilations, again, were part of demonic lore long before the "ALIENZ" crowd got hold of them.

-- The crop circle at the beginning of the film outside the Hess home is shaped like a pitchfork.

-- We see no advanced technology of any sort. The "invisible ships" could just as easily be some sort of inter-dimensional portal to hell or something. The monsters just tend to... well, show up in fields. No hint of the "ships" ever landing or deploying landing craft.

-- The book which Morgan buys says the aliens will be small, super-intelligent with advanced technology. It also makes a point to say that they will be poorly-developed, physically. The aliens which show up are the opposite: they're not so intelligent and are also larger than the average human with Olympic-level agility and strength.

-- Who were the first ones who learned how to stop the invaders according to the news broadcast? A small village in the Middle East (the Holy Land), which used a "primitive method to defeat them".

As I understand it, M. Night was trying to be clever. If aliens invaded Earth in ancient times, they'd be vilified/hailed as demons, angels, or gods. But the idea is that if the opposite occurred and the apocalypse came, with the legions of Hell or what have you invading modern Earth, enlightened atheists would flock to explain it rationally via science by labeling them as extraterrestrials. This is why the film makes the point of introducing the book before crapping all over everything it suggests about the invaders.

Then you have to consider that the idea that they're demons fits in perfectly with the religious themes and symbolism that the film practically crams down your throat: Graham's a priest, his wife and daughter were prophets, all the stuff regarding faith... Throwing in (very incompetent) aliens to a blatantly religious/faith-based movie is a clumsy move.
