Match 13075 Blue Beetle (Jamie Reyes) vs. Mario

Nintendo vs DC

 

Sub Space –

 

Nintendo’s Heroes had fallen. In their last stand against Tabuu and his Sub-Space Army, the impressive team of heroes failed. Around him, all of Mario’s brothers in arm fell like dominoes around him. Tabuu swept the playing field and had effectively trophizied most of Mario’s comrades. Now all that stood were Mario, his brother Luigi, Mr. Game and Watch, Ike, and Samus, side by side, facing the menace that was destroying their world.

 

Mario glanced to Luigi and Samus on his right, and to Mr. Game and Watch and Ike, to his left. This was their last chance. If these five failed, then their world would forever be sucked in Sub Space. Mario nodded to his comrades. Who all nodded back and were ready to charge, when Tabuu extended his wings and a great wind blew on the last of our heroes.

 

The wind did not give up as Tabuu speeded toward them at a calculated speed. Ike was the first to react as he leaped forward and lashed out with his blazing sword. Tabuu deflected the sword with one hand and struck him with the other hand, reducing him to a trophy.

 

Mario began throwing fireballs, Samus began firing ammunition as well, as Luigi ran into a flying headbutt at the approaching enemy. Tabuu easily caught the older brother and threw him back at Game and Watch, who was just standing there, ringing his little bell. The impact of Luigi flung the two of them off the side of the stage and they both plummeted.

 

“LUIGI!†Mario screamed as Tabuu made quick work of Samus and sent her launching into the background. Mario could not stop throwing fireballs, even though they didn’t seem to have any effect on the blue terror.

 

Tabuu eventually made his way to Mario and grabbed him by the neck. Mario tried to avoid his gaze as Tabuu held him there. Mario could feel what was coming next, but he didn’t want the Sub-Space General to get his way. The mustached warrior proceeded to lift up his foot and kick Tabuu square in the jaw.

 

Stunned and confused, Tabuu dropped his prey, and Mario hit the ground running. He ran to the edge of the stage drove off in the direction that his older brother had fallen.

 

Either way, Mario knew he had to regroup so plummeted down into subspace. Not knowing what awaited him at the bottom. He didn’t see his brother anywhere. All he saw was a green light.

 

Green? Luigi? Could it be? Mario positioned his free falling body in the direction the green light. And hurtle into the great unknown.

 

DC Universe -

 

Jamie Reyes - I remember exactly where I was when it happened.

 

I was rolling down the street in my ’94 Honda Civic with my windows down listening to some annoying Ghostface Killah song when I saw the flash. I remember talking to my mom about it later. She was looking for a pair of scissors or something else that just doesn’t matter after a crisis happens. But none of us realized at that time how useless we were before…you know…

 

I think everyone still remembers the little mundane tasks that they were performing on the night when the entire night sky flashed in a brilliant emerald green light and changed everything about our lives. We used to be safe. We used to be secure. The next day used to be guaranteed. But…but not anymore. Not since the Justice League Watchtower disappeared in a flash of green light…

 

The other heroes of the world were on that watchtower…now I had no idea how many heroes were left. Was the Blue Beetle the only hero left on earth?

Batman - Bruce Wayne sat in the Batcave cupping his face in his hands. For the second time in his life, he had no idea what was going on.

 

He ran it over in his head over and over again. 11:59 PM Central Time, the Watchtower was in position, the next minuet it was gone. No explanation. There were security measures to ensure this wouldn’t happen! The entire satellite had force fields and androids protecting it. Superman was on the watch Tower for Christ’s sake. Things like this don’t happen on Batman’s watch!

 

The only clue was the green flash. And Batman knew what it was. He just didn’t know why it was. The energy readings were clear. Power-ring energy. Green Lanterns…why?! Bruce threw his chair through a computer screen.

Nintendo Universe -

 

A lone Pokemon Trainer looked at the disappearing sky. Black holes had swallowed many locations in this immediate area. It seemed like the end of the world. He looked at the two pokeballs in his hands and released his faithful pokefriends.

 

His Voltorb and Sudowoodo stood before him. Pokemon were more connected to nature than humans were. Without even seeing the devastation that was happening to the land, the looks on their faces told him that they knew something was wrong.

 

The trainer was far away from home…and the only family he had…were these guys..

 

He huddled up with his two Pokemon and waited. He knew the end was soon.

 

“Mew?â€

 

The three jumped and looked behind them. There floated the most legendary Pokemon in the world. Right next to a bright green light.

Gothem City –

 

Jamie Reyes knew it was rash to fly from his home in Texas half-way across the country to Gothem City, but this was desperate times. He landed his Blue Beetle suit in front yard of Wayne Manor. If Batman was still around, then everything would be ok. Right?

 

He knocked on the door and waited for Alfred to answer.

 

There was none.

 

He knocked again.

 

There was no answer.

 

Scared, he powered up his suit’s energy cannon to blow the door in. Then realized how foolish that was and put his cannon down, “I’m going to check the back door…â€

Mario went from falling in the strange terrain of Sub Space, to traveling through some green light, to falling through a dark night sky over an urban landscape.

 

That sent the Blue Beetle Scarab off. The words “WARNING! WARNING!†went flashing before Jamie’s eyes, and the scarab locked onto the unknown person, falling from the sky.

 

Mario opened his eyes just as he was about to hit the ground and did a handstand a split second before impact, re-launching himself into the air and landing on his feet.

 

“I-identify yourself!†Jamie stammered at the short, mustached man.

 

Leery, Mario did not answer he just prepared to fight this thing that was the same color as Tabuu.

 

“Who are you?†Jamie yelled out.

 

“Itsa me…†Mario began and then hurled himself at Reyes, “MARIO!â€

Alright, good set-up, Confession. Interesting way to merge the DC and Nintendo universes.

 

As for the match, unless Mario has a spare Starman handy, he probably won't be stand up to the armaments of Jamie's battle suit.

Mario can smash through solid brick. The armor can withstand Lobo. So Mario's not powering his way through that armor. Fireballs would be pretty ineffective. Much of this depends on what powerups and how many Mario has. If we're going only on what we see in Smash, Beetle wins no problem. He has the strength, durability, speed, and maneuverability advantage.

Mario can be very powerful but the problem is people may want to say what version or game he is from. That would better him in matches against foes like Beetle. Excellent setup but Beetle knocks out Mario with one big blast easily. Mario didn't have enough time to get any powerups or anything like that either in the story so it just regular Mario.

I was thinking he was Mario from Smash Bros Brawl. So since this isn't a SSBB level...wait! Thats an awesome idea! Next time I write something like this, I'll make Wayne Manner or Metropolis or whatever a Stage on SSBB and then items can fall, assist, and even the playing field.
