Match 13094 Oliver Queen (Arrow) vs. Zsasz

The days of winter had come upon Starling City with a powerful force. The sky was completely blackened with dark clouds. Ice and snow covered the world as a powerful blizzard found its way into the city. From the inside of a warm mansion, it did seem that bad but Oliver knew the truth. He knew there were people out there now struggling with this blizzard. He remembered his days on the island and he remembered the days where he fought to survive. Now he gazed out in the world wondering what he could do for the people of Starling City. He was able to open a couple buildings for the less fortunate but there were still so many out there struggling with the cold. His family was pleasantly surprised by the work he had done with the homeless, Thea thought it was just a move so he could get the spotlight once again, but Moira said she was proud that her son was trying to help the people

.

As the time for dinner soon approached, both Moira and Thea were once again surprised by Oliver. A small smiled formed over Moira’s face as she said this was the first time since his return that he was home for dinner. Oliver smiled and simply apologized for his busy schedule. He assured her that opening a club is much harder than he ever realized. Walter finally made it home after another day at Queen Consolidated. The family sat down for a nice warm dinner and Oliver just watched his family with a small grin formed across his face. He still felt the troubles of constantly having to lie to his family burning inside of him but with this year coming to an end, he felt something else lingering deep down. He felt a sense of hope as he saw his sister and his mother finally happy.

 

Police swarmed the Glades as a couple bodies were found in a motel room. Quentin Lance and his partner Lucas Hilton arrived on the grizzly scene. As Lance sauntered into the room, he started looking all around the crime scene while Hilton went to talk with the first ones to arrive on the scene. After a couple minutes, Hilton finally got what he needed and went to talk with his partner. As Lance got finished looking around, he turned his attention to his partner. Hilton told him the same thing he was told; whoever it was broke in and tied the victims to the chair. He then slit their necks with some kind of blade. The murderer didn’t stay long but other residents of the motel could hear the screams.

 

“And they didn’t care to check up on them?†Lance asked as he glanced over the bodies.

 

“No. The vics seem to be a mother and daughter. No IDs on the bodies yet but we’re still searching for any clues as to who they are.†Hilton replied.

 

Lance continued to look at the bodies and then gazed into the young girl’s face. He closed his eyes and remembered when he held his young daughters in his hands. He then remembered the day he had his last fight with Sarah before she went off with Oliver Queen on his boat. Lance quickly shook his head and rubbed his eyes.

 

“You okay?†Hilton asked as he noticed that Lance was struggling with something.

 

“Yeah just too damn cold for murder.†Lance said with a smirk as he turned to leave.

 

As dawn soon approached and the blizzard started to ease up just a bit, Oliver opened the door to his mansion to see what the world had to offer. It seemed as if snow had covered the world around but this did not stop him any. Oliver started running through the world around. After several minutes of hard running through the snow, Diggle soon pulled up and drove alongside Oliver. Oliver continued his run and Diggle did his best to keep up with him in the car.

 

“Oliver!†Diggle finally yelled as he found the car started skidding on the icy ground.

Oliver stopped and turned to look back at Diggle. A childish smirk formed over his face as he started to walk back toward his associate’s car. Diggle got out and had a blank look on his face.

 

“What’s wrong Dig? I am too fast for you?†Oliver said sarcastically.

 

“I got something.†Dig said as he stood before Oliver.

 

“What is it?†Oliver asked.

 

“Last night a mother and daughter were found murdered in a motel room.†Dig replied.

 

“That’s not my job, Dig. I don’t handle murders.†Oliver said as he turned around to continue his run.

 

“Maybe you should take a look at this one. The M.O. is the same as some serial killer that was last seen in Gotham.†Dig said as he took out a couple papers.

 

Oliver turned back around and started reading through the files. He shook his head as he read something that turned him off immediately.

 

“Victor Zsasz huh? Says he was locked up in Arkham Asylum.†Oliver said as he handed the files back to Dig.

 

“Well that was before he decided it would be a good idea to break out about two weeks ago.†Dig replied.

 

“How do you even know this is the same guy?†Oliver asked.

 

“Same M.O. and the time frame seem pretty solid. Also there has been no sign of him in Gotham.†Dig replied.

 

“How do you know all this?†Oliver asked as he took another look at the files.

 

“I was listening to the police radio last night.†Dig replied with a smirk.

 

“No… How do you know so much about this Zsasz guy?†Oliver asked.

 

“When I first did my tour of duty, I had a friend from Gotham. His wife, son, and brother-in-law were all victims of this guy. When my friend went back to Gotham for their funerals, he decided to go out and search for this guy… When he found him he became Zsasz’ next vic. The police were able to capture him afterward with some special help but my friend died trying to stop this guy.†Dig replied with a blank look on his face.

 

“Okay, I’ll start looking into it as soon as I am done here.†Oliver replied as he continued on with his run.

 

Once again police swarmed around a crime scene as Detective Lance and Detective Hilton drove up. Lance glanced all around the place,

trying to pick off any clues that the crime scene investigators might have missed. Hilton went to go talk to the one in charge of the crime scene. As Lance went to look over the bodies, it didn’t notice any signs of initial foul play. He turned to see Hilton walking toward him. Hilton didn’t really have much to tell him besides the victims were reported as panicking after leaving some night club. He said they attacked a couple people, screaming random things. He also said from the looks of it, they probably died of a heart attack.

 

“Then why were we called in?†Lance asked as he looked down at the bodies once again.

 

“I don’t know… Maybe they attacked the wrong person…†Hilton replied as he too looked over the bodies.

 

“Is there anything else?†Lance asked as he looked back up at Hilton.

 

“We found a little capsule like objects in their possession.†Hilton replied as he looked back up at Lance.

 

“Yeah… I’ve never seen it before and none of these guys have either but it was a small metal capsule.†Hilton replied as he lifted the small evidence bag up to show Lance.

 

Lance glanced over it for several moments before handing it back to Hilton. “See if you can get any DNA off it… So far this doesn’t look like it is connected to what happened last night. I think these are just some punk kids who had too much fun last night are some club. The cold weather mixed with whatever drug they decided to take became too much for them.†Shortly after that, Hilton and Lance left the scene.

 

For several hours Oliver used satellite images and street cameras to try and find this Victor Zsasz. After several hours he felt like it was useless. He did not think Zsasz would come all the way to Starling City but then he got something. It was a small image of his face entering a convenient store. Dig came walking in a couple hours after he found the image. He watched as Oliver was working out.

 

“Get anything?†Dig asked as he looked at the screens.

 

“Yeah... You could say that.†Oliver replied as he got to his feet. He started walking toward the computers and brought up the different images he could find.

 

“What is it?†Dig asked.

 

“For the past four nights, Mr. Zsasz has gone to four different convenient stores. Traffic cams got just a small glimpse of him.†Oliver replied.

 

“How does this help us on find him?†Digg asked.

 

“Because it circles around where his vics were.†Oliver said as he pulled up a map of the city.

 

Dig gazed at the map and saw what Oliver had done. He marked the locations of the different stores and near the middle was the motel room where the mother and daughter were found.

 

“So what? He’s circling his prey?†Digg asked.

 

“Maybe… I am going to see if he is at one of the four stores tonight but right now, he is searching for his next vics.†Oliver said as he left.

 

“Where are you going?†Digg asked.

 

“Home.†Oliver replied as he left.

 

Back at the mansion, Oliver walked through the door. He saw a glimpse of Walter and Moira in the next room. He decided that they should have their space. As he walked up the stairs, he decided to check on Thea. He walked toward her room and her music blazing from inside. He didn’t think much of it at first but as he opened the door, he saw her with a couple of her friends. Immediately he noticed the lines of cocaine on her table and just looked away in disapproval. He friends all started to leave and Thea quickly turned off the music. She glanced at her brother with a childlike smirk on her face.

 

“Has anyone told you ever since you got back that you are a party pooper?†Thea said with that childish grin.

 

“Thea this needs to stop.†Oliver said as he walked closer to his sister.

 

“And what is that exactly?†Thea asked with a sarcastic look on her face.

 

“That.†Oliver said as he pointed at the line of cocaine on her table.

 

“Ohhhh I’m just having a bit of fun. You did it to back when you were actually my brother.†Thea replied as she started wiping off her table.

 

“Back then… I was… I was… I wasn’t a good person… I made mistakes but I don’t want to see you make the same mistakes.†Oliver replied as he tried to get through to his sister.

 

“Or what?! All you have done since you’ve been back is run away from your family! You’re never here and you’ve never cared! Stop judging me for trying to be like you!†Thea replied in anger.

 

“I’m sorry for what I’ve done but this isn’t me anymore.†Oliver replied.

 

“Yeah well everyone is sorry about something. When you and dad left, all I got were apologies. I didn’t want apologies. I wanted dad! I wanted you!†Thea said as tears formed in her eyes.

 

Finally, she picked up one of her bags and headed out the door. She told him that she was going to spend the day with her real family and Oliver just shook his head. He had flashback to his father’s final moments and to his time on the island, but in all of his planning, he never planned on how to save his family. He thought about going to Laurel for help or maybe even talking to Tommy about it, but he just couldn’t bring himself to it. He walked outside and looked at the world as it was covered in snow. The cold air pressed against his face and he remembered how cold it was living on the island. He closed his eyes and walked over to his father’s grave. He gazed down at his father’s name and closed his eyes. Memories of when he was a kid started flowing through his head. When he was a kid, his father was the greatest hero that had ever lived. His father could save the day and still be there for him and his family.

 

“I don’t know what to do, dad. I just don’t know what to do. I am trying to right your wrongs but it feels like I am failing Thea and mom… I just don’t know how to save them.†Oliver said with a struggle to find the right words.

 

Frantically moving throughout the police station, Detective Lance did his best to find clues behind the recent murders until he was interrupted by Hilton. Hilton just got finished talking to the coroner about the other bodies that were found. He was somewhat disturbed by what he had found. He went to his partner with the tests. Lance just looked through it but really did not know what to think of it.

 

“There was something in their systems but it’s nothing we’ve seen before… I think we may have a new kind of drug in Starling City.†Hilton said with a disturbed look on his face.

 

“A Hooded Vigilante, a killer copycat, billionaire crooks, these grisly murders, and now a new damn drug. Ahhh what is going to come next?

 

A damn alien from outer space?†Lance said with frustration as he rubbed his eyes. “Starling City has gone to hell real fast.â€

As night fell over Starling City, the freezing weather started crawling back onto the streets. The blizzard had reached its end but the evil that walk upon the streets would never end. Staggering around in the snow, the psychotic maniac Victor Zsasz searched for someone, anyone. With each person he past, he heard voices coming from them, he saw something dark burning in each of them. He had to free them from this darkness, this evil. A fire was burning deep within but it was fear, fear that he was determine to overcome. He heard a voice up ahead, a childlike voice but what he perceived was something demonic. A young father and his daughter were walking along the street corner before being taken by the psychotic killer.

 

Several moments later, the father and daughter found themselves tied up on chair in an abandoned building. There was a stench in the air from the rotting walls and the mold. The father, Sam Chambers, glanced around the room. With what little light he had, he saw letters upon the decay. He couldn’t make out what it said. He heard his daughters crying and screaming for help, but the only person that could hear her was her father and the monster that had taken them. Victor walked into the room with a blade in his hand. He rubbed his hands in the hair of the long girl and Sam screamed for him to stop. He slapped him against the face. Tears formed at Sam’s eyes as he felt the side of his face burning. The taste of blood filled his mouth as Victor went back to looking over his daughter.

 

“They call me The Butcher but I am a liberator. I am going to free you of this evil.†Victor said as he was about to slice the throat of the young girl. All of a sudden, Victor took a step back. He looked all around as if he was searching for something. Victor walked over to a small table, where a candle was lit. He blew out the candle and the room went completely dark. He hid within the darkness and waited. He waited for the one that came to hunt him.

 

As Oliver made his way into the abandoned nursing home, he got his arrows ready for anything. He made his way through the darkness and started to reflect on his time on the island. He remembered when Yao-Fei trained him to fight within the darkness. He had to become part of the darkness in order to survive but who he was going to face was something else entirely. He knew that most people fought with a code or with rules but this Victor Zsasz was something else entirely. He didn’t have a code and he didn’t have rules. He was a monster that would kill by any means necessary. As Arrow entered the main hallway, he saw a small glimpse of the father and daughter tied up in the chair. He then heard a voice within the darkness but he could not perceive where it was coming from.

 

“I have heard about you. You have come to be freed, just like them.†Victor said as his voice disappeared within the shadows.

 

“I have come to stop you.†Arrow proclaimed as he got ready for battle.

 

Meanwhile,

 

At the Merlyn Mansion

 

“It is quite interesting that you are now the Professor of Psychology of Starling University.†Malcolm Merlyn said as he sat down at his desk in his home office.

 

“Well I am also going to be a consultant for SLPD as a criminal psychologist.†Dr. Jonathan Crane replied with a small smirk.

 

“I was always interested in your work maybe that is why I funded it while you were in Gotham.†Malcolm said as he started flipping through a couple files. “And it looks like it actually works.â€

 

“Yes, I have tested it on several people in Gotham but with your little Vigilante problem, I thought my work was needed here.†Crane said with a smile.

 

“It’s not much of a problem anymore. I have taken care of it or at least he knows there is someone much worse them him in Starling.’ Malcolm replied with a smile.

 

“Mr. Merlyn I have a fascination with the human mind, especially went it involves fear. I want to see this man’s mind. I want to see his fear. I want to see the fear of this city because that is what truly amazes me the most.†Crane said as he leaned forward in a chair.

 

“Let’s get one thing straight shall we… You’re not here to cause a war or study the Green Arrow. You’re here for what I have planned for this city. If you mess up my plans, then you know who will come for you. Neither your fear nor the Green Arrow will save you from him.†Malcolm said in a cold voice.

As always I hope you all enjoy and I am sorry for any grammatical errors or mistakes that I have made. I tried to stay as true to Arrow the television show as I could but I just watched the mid-season finale just before I finished so I tried to incorporate a little bit of the mid season's finale into the story. I am going to try to make a couple follow-ups and if you read this set-up, you will see that I have left it open for more.

Thank you so much and I recommend it but that's just me. I have fallen in love with the show, I love what they did with the characters, and I love how Stephen Amell portrays him.

 

I only have two complaints about the show. One of them is that it takes a lot from the Nolan Batman film, even I guess the Dark Knight films were the biggest inpirations for the show. There are a lot of the scenes in the show that are pretty much copy and paste of the Nolan films, which personally I really don't mind but I read some people complain it like the end of the world.

 

My other thing is that whenever he is in his hideout or whatever it is, it looks like it is always raining when it is nighttime. I don't know if that is suppose to add on to the dramatic effect but it just seems like it only rains when he is in his hideout place at night.

Thank you so much and I am glad I was able to do it. I totally agree with you and I hope Deathstroke comes to the city at some point in the series. I know he has been hinted only in flashback and the pilot episode where they show an arrow through his mask. I hope they have him come to the city with his trade mark one and his mask. Maybe he could be working with Merlyn or some other big shot.

 

I also think it would be cool if they did a version of the Riddler. I guess I thought it would be cool if they made him like the Riddler from Arkham City with a little Jigsaw in him and just build him up little by little. It would be awesome to see Oliver take on someone of superior and lethal intellect.
