Match 13115 Wolverine vs. Cyclops

{Following the events of "Team Gambit vs Team Colossus"}

 

As Colossus and Gambit clashed below the thick trees of the swamp, their allies tore the camp apart. Mystique ran from Sabertooth while Rogue battled it out with the Blob. Beast could not bring himself to help either side after the feeling he got from battling Wolverine and Iceman. This couldn't be right, he though to himself. How could so many of the X-Men stand against them? After all, they were just trying to do what was best for mutants, and the X-Men. Why would it come to this between former teammates? As Beast was lost in thought, Mystique was able to blast him in the back with a laser gun. As he fell, Rouge caught his arm and threw hi through a nearby tree. Beast was hurt, but before Rouge could continue her assault, Sabertooth intervened and pounced on her. Blob then grabbed Mystique and slammed her to the ground. Rouge began slamming Sabertooth around and making her way towards Blob. Before Blob could get away Rouge smacked him in the head with the tree she threw Beast into. It looked like Colossus X-Men had been defeated, until their leader showed up and delivered a steel fist to Rouges face.

 

-Colossus: "Where is Gambit?! He has disappeared with our information and if you do not help us get it back, we will be forced to bring you to Cyclops and tell him what you have done here. He wont be pleased with your betrayal".

 

-Rouge: "Cyclops and his New X-Men arnt getting anything from us chrome arms. Even if I did know where Gambit went, I wouldnt tell any of you!".

 

-Colossus: "Then you leave us no choice Rouge. Im sorry".

 

Before Colossus could react, Gambit jumped from the trees with a large club of wood, and charged it up before delivering a heavy swing to the Russian's head. Colossus flew back and hit the Blob who had almost made it back to his feet. Gambit helped Rouge up then gave her the information the X-Men had been seeking. Rouge grabbed Gambits hand and they flew away as Sabertooth loaded Mystique into the X-Jet. They had one of Gambit's X-Men in their custody now, but it would seem that the team leader had gotten away and still had the information they needed.

 

-Gambit: "Colossus, haven't you learned anything being an X-Men mon'frere? There is always a choice".

 

As Colossus and his team flew back towards the X Mansion, contacted Cyclops to tell him about their battle with Gambit and Rogue. After hearing the news Cyclops demanded that the team pursuit Gambit. Before he could finish was he was saying, Cyclops was distracted by an intruder alert in the mansion. The cameras outside the mansion caught footage of Wolverine and more former X-Men breaking their way in.

 

-Colossus: "How could this be?! We just seen Wolverine and Iceman at the mutant testing facility".

 

-Cyclops: "They have Cloak with them! Forget Gambit, we need back up here!".

 

-Colussus: "We will be there soon Cyclops!".

 

Cyclops sent Storm and Nightcrawler to battle the rebel X-Men while he gathered the other X-Men. As Storm reached the front lawn she raised her hands to the sky and dark clouds began to form. Before she could say anything Iceman covered her hands in a thick layer of ice and Storm fell forward to the ground.

 

-Storm: "Bobby! Logan! Why are you doing this?".

 

-Wolverine: "Sorry sweet-heart, youre playing for the wrong team this time. Wheres Summers!".

 

-Storm: "I dont know! Remove this ice from my hands at once!".

 

-Iceman: "No can do Strom. We cant have you starting a hurricane now can we?".

 

-Wolverine: "Were not here to hurt you Storm. Im after Summers. He has ruined the X-Men and has spit on the Professors grave... Makes me sick that you and Beast are still waving his flag!".

 

Just then Nightcrawler appeared and vanished again with Storm in his arms. As Wolverine and his team turned to face the mansion, they seen Cyclops and his team ready to fight on the stairs.

 

-Wolverine: "You've done it this time Cyc! No more excuses, no more people to get in my way! Just you and me!".

 

-Cyclops: "Stand down Logan! You're the one who turned on us".

 

-Wolverine: "Sabertooth, Blob, and Mystique wearing X-Men uniforms? Breaking into government facilities before knowing for sure whether or not they were holding mutants? Sending Colossus and his new buddies to do your dirty work? Nooo.... YOU turned your back on all of us! Are you trying to undo everything Xavier has done for us?!".

 

-Cyclops: "Its not like that and you know it!".

 

-Wolverine: "Its exactly like that! No more games Summers! Aaaaahhhhhhhhh!!!!!".

 

Wolverine then ran towards Cyclops and dodged the first optic blast that was shot at him. Cyclops and his team prepared themselves for the battle against Wolverines X-Men.

Good fight and Wolverine's team win. In Schism Cyclops and Wolverine battled to the death not holding anything back. It ended up really being a draw between the two men. Wolverine vs Cyclops ends in a draw. However Havok, Iceman, Cloak, and Dagger give Wolverine's team the win.

storm is going to give them all sorts of problems but wolverine can take cyclops.

i don't see jubliee sideing against wolverine.

i will have to think a little longer on this one cause storm is so powerful but other than that wolverine team wins every other fight but storm might beat them all.

Iceman is powerful enough to defeat Storm and Cyclops has shown he can defeat Wolverine in the comics.

wolverine has every advantage on cyclops except range and he can tank anything cyke can do.

Nice set-up! I like the way the conflict is progressing, and the characterizations are excellent. Very good match in terms of power and versatility. I dunno about generalship. Time was when Cyclops was an excellent leader and Wolverine was a loose cannon. I have the vague impression that both those assessments have changed.

 

Teamwork - Again, I dunno how well C&D and Toad work with the team. It'll be rough for old friends to fight each other, especially Jubilee. It's easy to see her dropping out of the fight rather than turn on Wolverine.

 

I give it to Wolverine's team, but only by a very narrow margin.

even still there is a chance of wolverine getting up from it.

and cyclops would never take his vizor off in a fight like this the fight is to crazy he could hit one of his people and he wouldn't risk that.

In an all out fight between the two, Wolverine would win. He would probably be blasted down several times, but Cyclops has absolutely nothing in his arsenal that can put Wolverine down for more than a minute or two, not to mention Wolverine being a better fighter(both more skill and more experience), as well as being physically superior.

 

That said, there is no one on team Cyclops that can actually take Iceman down.

 

 

Pretty good setup, a "B" from me. And a clear win for Wolverine.

Didn't Cyclops way back in the past in the danger room beat Wolverine? I know for a fact that fight in Schism was a draw because neither could kill the other because they knew each other too well. If I find the scan of Cyclops beating Wolverine I will post it. However I agree no matter how you cut it Team Wolverine wins. They have many different ways they could pull off a win here.

The OP commented that Rogue in the previous match was the 616 version from the 90's, and in that case no further information were really needed, however here we need to know a bit more specifically.

Back in the Claremont/Byrne days Storm did. She stripped all the moisture out of the air and he had nothing to make ice from.

Cyclops vs wolverine is like a kid fighting a much larger kid holding him at arms length while he thrashes his arms. But if Cyclops is smart and supposedly he is the best strategist in the marvel universe he will shoot through Logans eye pulverising his brain. Which will stun him long enough for Nightcrawler to grab him and teleport him to Antarctica or something. Storm takes out Iceman pretty fast in the same way Electro did in the Ultimate universe. Ice = water + electricity = bad. With them down Havoc,Cloak and Dagger either surrender or get their asses kicked.

That was back in the day before Iceman realized how powerful he was as a Omega level mutant and what he could do. Now that trick Storm did wouldn't work. Iceman can create ice himself. Electricity will do nothing since Iceman can create copies of himself, immediately reform himself, and more. Watch the fight with Schism Cyclops was burning Wolverine down to where you saw his flesh, skeleton, and more. Wolverine still kept fighting.

 

Whose kicking Havok's ass? Havok is one of the most powerful people here.

I maintain my point on the Nightcrawler thing. Nightcrawler can spread the ranks sufficiently for Cyclops to amass his forces. Havoc is tough but Storm can take him or Scott if it went h2h as their powers do jack to each other. Iceman is probably the toughest problem to solve but Nightcrawler can remove him from the equation.

Yea Nightcrawler isn't a problem. Iceman could freeze the area around them and Nightcrawler would be too cold to even teleport. After that he is simply knocked out by anybody else. Plus Cloak and Dagger could keep him distracted as well.

That doesn't actually answer my question, both AoA and Emma frost possessing Iceman took place in the 90's. The possession took place in '94 and AoA took place from '95 to '96.

 

If you want some more specific dates for those two events, I could probably dig them up, but it would take some time.

Well then, this is a very different fight than what has been discussed thus far, and the various arguments that have been made for Iceman being the deciding factor, are completely worthless.
