1:3 - Ryu vs. Mister Fantastic

It's actually pretty hilarious because matchup wise, Dhalsim (most similar to Reed) beats Ryu due to, you know, dodging projectiles better than any other character.

 

The only medium of Street Fighter that I know in which Ryu and Dhalsim have fought each other, with Dhalsim winning is the Udon Comics-- and Dhalsim won primarily because in the Udon comics, he also had the power to cast illusions on his opponents.

 

The games obviously do suggest that Ryu and Dhalsim may have fought each other during the second world warrior tournament and since Ryu won the second world warrior tournament, it's likely that he may have beaten Dhalsim.

Reed Richards has dodged Doom blasts in the past, just as a fyi in regards to dodging the hadoukens.

 

And while Dahlsim and Necro are the closest to Richards and that Ryu would know what to expect, but Mr Fantastic is another animal entirely.

 

Reed's all about incapacitation when he fights, been able to hold both the Hulk and Dr Doom for awhile, and he's restrained the Thing so many times I've lost count.

 

Ryu can do literally nothing if he can't move his arms and legs, which Reed will be on in seconds.

 

From there he'll wrap Ryu up in his frame and hold him there until he's passed out.

 

The winner, Reed Richards.

Wonderful debate! I've had trouble deciding but I'm more convinced of Reed victory than Ryu. (who would have ever thought of this match?)

I think Reed could find his way out of this fight since he's really smart.

Probably the closest fight of the tournament. Had this been a terrain with traps then I would lean towards Mr Fantastic, as he would probably find it easier to dodge the traps whilst fighting. Similarly in a laboratory he would have been in his element. 

 

However, the bar environment definitely favours Ryu's style of bringing the fight up close and utilise his superior fighting skill to beat Reed.

Reed can certainly utilize all the objects in his environment, further to a better degree than Ryu

I'm playing the devil's advocate here but I agree with Rakai.

 

Reed can hold anyone in place; and Ryu doesn't know systema as far as I know so he would struggle to break free.

 

However, in a bar setting; a person used to fighting on the streets would fair much better. Also, Ryu's speed is already pretty damn good since he is capable of dodging bullets (Street Fighter Alpha movie), lift giant boulders (Street Fighter III Oro's ending), and create a hadoken that was capable of nearly demolishing an entire building (Street Fighter Alpha Movie). Also, if the hadokens can be spammed at blinding speed, that puts Ryu in another advantage. It doesn't help that we can't get a perfect view of a shinkuu hadouken's range other tham a striaght beam since for all we know, it can extend quite a distance. Add in Ryu's hado kakusei then that shinkuu hadoken can bounce off walls and a tetsumaki senpukaku creates a tornado (Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3).

 

Overall, I think Ryu can pull this off if hes quick enough and it humerously means that the koryu hacks show how fast his hadokens REALLY are..

I have a good sense of what would happen in this fight:

 

 

Ryu and Mr. Fantastic stare each other down, but not in a lalicious way, both have an aptitude for on the fly decision making and both study each others stances and reactions.

Ryu opens up with his hadoken, which hurls towards Mr. F at blinding speeds. Mr F. at the last second creates a hole in his chest allowing the projectile to fly past him and hit the wall behind him.  Ryu runs towards him at speeds that take Mr F. by surprise and he stretches his arms, creating a huge fist that is sent to meet Ryu. Ryu evades the attack (moving fast out of the way; almost like in Yu Yu where they seem to teleport) and performs his Hurricane kick, landing on the jaw of Reeds. He is sent flying towards the wall, but bounces back faster than he was travelling hitting Ryu with a blunt force that sends him back, landing on his back. Ryu does a backflip and assumes his stance this time moving his hands to do a hadoken. He sends one after another, Reed evading all of them and causing lots of property damage where they land. Ryu shoots one more, but as Reeds makes his body mold into a donut (To allow the blast to go through him) Ryu shoots his Shinku Hadoken, enlarging it to engulf Reeds)

 

Reeds realizing that he cannot avoid that at such short range is hit and sent flying towards the wall.

 

Bottom line its a good fight, Ryu cannot hurt him with punches and kicks, but he can still send him flying as he is strong enough to (refer to any fight Reed has been in) and Ryu has the Sho-RyuKen Hado which is a Sho Ryu Ken but ends in a Hadoken, so while the punch ,may not hurt the fireball will.

 

Reeds is too smart and will put up a fight, but his smarts are not combat savy(physical combat) Ryus' is, ut Reed is smart to think of a plan to defeat people which is is good at that.

 

I say Ryu loses 6/10 or Ryu wins 6/10 if he is the version that stops Akuma (SSf3)

The moment Richards gets Ryu into his grasps and wraps around him this fight is over because there's nothing Ryu can do to break free from that. He's just that much more versatile in this fight compared to Ryu that Ryu gets overwhelmed. I'll drop this here since it gives a pretty good description on what Reed actually is capable off in a fight.

Yeah the guy who has taken multiple hits from Namor and still gotten up, pumped himself up to the Things level of strength  etc etc etc gets defeated by a guy who can throw fireballs from his hands.

You do know fire and things of a very high temperature are weaknesses of Reed right? How does Reed taking hits from Namor (Who in most of their fights held back) mean Ryu shouldn't have won? 

People posted great reasons why Reed Richards and Ryu could win. It could have gone either way.

I was under the impression his suit afforded him a degree of resistance to the likes aside his natural resistances. Also given his powers, he's likely to have resistance against heat given the suit (and by extension his powers) seemingly renders him resistant against electricity.

 

This goes hand in hand nicely with the instance Dinsdale gives us of him restraining Johnny though he had to let go but he came away with no damage. These superheated shots aren't sustained, they only happen briefly. Except for the beams but yes.
