JR: Sorry for my absence, ladies and gentlemen. I'm back here on commentary and joined by none other than my good friend, Master Roshi.

Roshi: Thank you, Jim. I'm glad to be bringing my expertise here on commentary.

JR: What can we tell this capacity crowd about our next competitors?

Roshi: The awakened claymore warrior, Rigaldo, goes against Goliath the leader of the Gargoyle Manhattan Clan. Both of them are monsters on the battlefield and could shred a man to pieces with their bare hands.

JR: They have outstanding power and will do anything to win. Which is just what you need to compete here at the Grand Cross-Galactic Budokai Tenkaichi. And in a special turn of events, we've blocked sunlight from entering the dome, entirely. The lights on in the arena have been dimmed, enough for the audience to see, but the lack of average lighting may certainly play a factor here.

Roshi: That's right. They will both need to use all of their senses to come out on top.

*Goliath leaps from the rafters and glides down to the center of the ring, where his opponent is waiting for him.*

Rigaldo: Turn back now, yoma. Facing me will only bring death.

Goliath: I do not fear death, creature. My purpose here is all I need to win.

JR: By god, there they go! Classic start with them locking in for the feat of strength.

Roshi: I wasn't expecting them to start so quickly. A lock up now and... on and Goliath is pushing the Lion back.

JR: Nice strategy. A ring out is all the other man needs to win.

Roshi: Oh oh oh! What a feat of strength!

JR: Good lord, Rigaldo stopped Goliath's push. He's lifting him up now and... slammed Goliath down in the ring.

Rigaldo: I've got your measure now. Would you prefer to die on your feet or your back?

*Goliath roars and jumps up, uppercutting Rigaldo on the way.*

JR: Stay tuned, folks. You don't wanna miss a moment of this!

As far as I know, no, he isn't. He can outpace WWII era planes, and catch up to jet after it's taken off, and while that is incredibly fast movement speed, it's not as fast as Rigardo, and he doesn't have any combat speed feats to back up his insane movement speed, and that's the fastest verifiable feat I can find for him. Other Claymore characters are already FTE, and Rigardo is massively faster than just about all of them except for the very fastest. Goliath is very durable, and their strength is honestly probably a toss up. Scaling Rigardo's strength, or anyone in Claymore honestly, is really hard, and Goliath has, I would argue, greater strength, and therefore greater durability. However, I don't think that matters when Rigardo will literally be running circles around him. Even assuming he can't outmatch his strength, he can just hit and run until Goliath gets chiseled away

I think I agree with you. Goliath has the durability and strength advantage but can't move fast enough to secure a win. Rigaldo, being tactical, might clip Goliath's wings first to keep him grounded then work him down with quick, consecutive attacks.

On the flip side, there's an argument to say that Goliath has greater combat strategy and may slip in a win by outsmarting Rigaldo. Could win by ring out.

Maybe, but it seems really unlikely to me. Rigardo's physicals are just so much stronger, and I don't see what strategy he could effectively deploy given the speed difference

Idk, nothing is coming to me that would give him the edge.

Something I didn't think about though, Goliath would probably have the Eye of Odin. He could bring it with him in case he needed it. In that form, he's dodged lightning.

I missed out on a match-up that included a Gargoyles character??? Gahh!!! :(

See, I'm one of EF's resident Gargoyles experts, and I could've added some input here. But yeah, while Goliath can glide, jump much higher than a human, and run faster (especially if he runs on all fours), I don't think he's FTE.

And while I don't know a thing about Rigaldo, I know a lot of anime combatants notoriously tend to be lightning bruisers. Based on that alone, I'm not sure I would've liked Goliath's odds here.

Ah, too bad. Your input might have helped Goliath's chances. He's moving on to round 2 be on the lookout for that.

Logically, I'd doubt that. Goliath doesn't seem that much faster than a human, while anime fighters, especially supernatural ones, tend to at least border on flash stepping in my experience.

But yeah, I guess people that voted on this one knew more about Gargoyles than Claymore, which shocks me since Gargoyles isn't really talked about much these days.
