“Took your sweet time getting here.” Nightwing cockily teased Robin upon his arrival. “Good thing I was here to handle it.” Nightwing planted a foot a top of the defeated Bane. For all his bravado Dick was winded, if Catwoman and this new comer hadn’t softened Bane up who knows if he would still be standing. It almost made you miss Blockbuster and all the chaos of Bludhaven. Almost.

“Sorry, Nightwing. Oracle tried to get me to follow some car chase across town, but it made it to the interstate before I could get after either of them. Based on what I told her though, she knows one of the cars and trusts its owner.” Tim regarded the scene, just as he had a chance to look towards the Iceberg Lounge, the GCPD arrived. As they had been recently, far too late to be any help. Detective Bullock looked steamed.

“Yo Boy Wonders. You ever hear of property damage? Look at this mess!” Bullock broadly gestured to the blown out steel doors, the downed light post, and the fire hydrant spewing water onto the street.

“Sorry Detective, put it on my tab.” Nightwing fired a grapple to a nearby building and Robin followed suite.

“Sheesh.” Bullock looked at the unconscious Bane and the damage. “What’s a guy gotta do to get a quiet evening around here huh?”

The sound of gunfire filled the Batcave, the Hugo Boss clad rogue had made several attempts to get at the Batcomputer, but the butler had stoically defended it till he was down to his last shell.

“I did my counting you, lapdog. You’ve had your six.” The Spy confidently emerged from cover as Alfred decided to take a chance and rushed across from the computer towards the Giant Penny that dominated the cave. The Spy produced one of his knives from his coat pocket and gave it a toss towards the butler striking him squarely in the left calf. Alfred went tumbling into the penny and hastily discharged his shotgun hitting the Spy squarely in the shoulder. The Spy cried out in pain.

“This particular model holds seven shells.” Alfred said drolly as he desperately looked for any weapon while feigning helplessness. The Spy’s smirk was gone. He handled his revolver and walked menacingly towards the downed septuagenarian.

“Any last words, you English dog?” The Spy towered over Alfred. The Butler had put up a hell of a fight, but now he was disarmed. Things looked rather bleak. The Spy nursed his left arm; the shotgun had nearly taken it clean off. A quick visit to the Medic and he would be right as rain, but first he was going to take revenge and then fulfill the mission objectives.

Alfred smiled wryly, “While I am sure I could give you a fantastic quote from Henry the V about the English besting the French despite untenable odds, I think I would have to say… Batmobile: Afterburners fire!” The vintage automobile’s engine roared to life and shot a spray of fire backwards directly onto the Spy.

“Mon dieu!” the flaming Frenchman was just about able to throw himself from the cliffs of the Batcave into the water below. As Alfred got up, bruised and bleeding but ultimately unharmed, a more modern Batmobile came roaring into the cave.

“Apologies, sir. I haven’t had a chance to sweep up yet. In particular, I think there is a frog in the pond that will need to be fished out.” Batman exited the car in a swift motion.

“Lock down the cave Alfred. This spy isn’t getting anywhere. If my hunch is right, he’s behind the odd behavior of Jim Gordon as well.” Batman looked down and saw the half-drowned Spy clinging to the rocks at the base of the cliff. “Belay that Alfred. I think he isn’t going anywhere.

“You suck.” The Spy looked at Alfred as the Dark Knight held him by a precarious grapple line.

“Now listen. I’m not happy right now. I’m going to ask you some very basic questions and you are going to answer them. Or else, you will see what happens when I am in a bad mood. One: how did you find out the cave?” Batman held the line taut. The fact that Alfred had been hurt weighed heavily on his mind.

“I took a cab. The cave was right where I was told it would be. Gordon says hello by the way.” The Spy lit a cigarette despite hanging upside down.

Batman scowled and worked to remember his no killing rule. “Who told you, and where is Jim Gordon?” He let the line fall a few feet.

“Damn it.” The Spy watched his cigarette fall to the waters below.

“Oh, Detective. So slow to put the pieces together. Since I haven’t checked in, Gordon is probably dead already, but I would advise getting to Gray Gravel Company if you want him to avoid that fate.”

“Oracle, did you…”

“Way ahead of you big guy. I just sent Nightwing and Robin over there. The police are locking up Bane. Catwoman and that Agent got away though. I sent two of my best bounty hunters after them, but they just ended up causing a four car pile up on 95. Here’s the kicker: Your masked assassin brought that Agent into town in the back of a gravel delivery van. I had to shift through a lot of traffic camera footage, but looking for his face tells me that this agent was the one who kidnapped Jim Gordon.”

“Then they can’t wait. Oracle, who do you have who can get to the Batcave to guard the prisoner quickly?”

“I can have the Huntress there right away. She’s on the Watchtower right now.”

“Good. Do it. Alfred, brief Huntress, I’ve already called for Dr. Thompkins. I’m going to follow this agent. Now, Oracle, tell me where I can find these bounty hunters.”

“A gravel company?”

“Looks like it. Makes an awful lot of smoke according to the complaints to the city council.” Nightwing looked at Tim in disbelief.

“When do you find the time to read city council complaints?”

“In between rounds of Sudoku in the Sunday paper. Notice anything strange about that?” Robin pointed to the treaded vehicles hidden behind mounds of gravel.

“What kind of gravel company has the need for turretless tanks? We better scope it out.” Nightwing and Robin silently descended into the dusty yard. There were only a handful of buildings. “Split up, if you find Gordon call right away.” Robin nodded and the duo went in different directions.

Tim looked over the files loose on the table. The first two buildings had been dead ends, but maybe this one would have a clue to Jim Gordon’s location. The files detailed a lot of things Reliable Excavation Demolition, Builder’s League United, and… this was odd. The Lion’s Eye Diamond was held in schematics, but the diamond wasn’t the focus of the study. It was the gold brooch in the shape of a lion that held the diamond. It was circled and the words, “Not Gold” were repeatedly written around it. The Lion’s Eye Diamond was supposedly a work of Aborigines in Australia. Many archeologists used it as proof of ancient Australian seafaring. “If it’s not gold… what is it?”

Tim continued looking. Those tanks carried bombs… dirty bombs designed to release a bioweapon that would wipe out humans and humans only. What kind of sick freak was responsible for this?

“Robin! I found the commissioner, and I also found some company. Get over to the shipping containers now!” Tim tossed down the files and made his way outside to see robots. There must be hundreds of them all burning smoke exiting the shipping containers. Nightwing had pulled the Commissioner up on top of some and was dealing with charging sword wielding robots. Nightwing released a handful of explosive pellets destroying several robots. The charred remains left half burned piles of money on the ground. “They literally have money to burn.” Tim rolled his eyes at Nightwing’s joke.

Gordon fired a few rounds at sniper rifle armed robots causing them to break apart. “We’ve got to either shut them down or get out of here. We could use a SWAT team or the Justice League even” Tim nodded in agreement at the hoard of robots.

“I’ve got worse news. Those tanks are carrying dirty bombs. We can’t let them get out of this gravel yard. Oracle, I don’t suppose we could get any JLA help on this one?” Robin extended his staff and slammed the giant robot with a Russian accent. Why did it have an accent?

“Sorry Robin, the JLA is off world dealing with Mongul. I’ll see if I can get any help, but we are stretched too thin right now. You are on your own.”

Nightwing and Robin (Tim Drake), they have an exhausted but eager to help Commissioner Gordon vs a horde of Gray Mann’s Robots and tanks carrying bombs.

Another good set-up, Twogunkid. I had a feeling Alfred would be able to handle himself in the Batcave.

As for the match, it looks like Dick, Tim, and Jim might have a tough fight on their hands. One question, though, what particular types of Robots are they going up against? I have a feeling they can handle this small army, but I'm not exactly sure what the what TF2 'Bots are armed with.

They are armed with a variety of weapons. Typically rocket and grenade launchers, miniguns, and shotguns are their predominant weapons.

Despite their arsenal they are extremely brain dead. So they have the muscle and numbers to win but they lack high functioning intelligence.

Well, in that case, the good guys should be able to pull this out with difficulty.

The Robots are more durable and better armed than normal thugs, but have even less intelligence.

I hope there's no Engineer bots... or spy bots.

But I still think the boys can handle themselves here. Another fine setup.

Depending on how things go, might I suggest Aston Martin vs Batmobile?
