The creators of the Grand Cross-Galactic Budokai Tenkaichi bring you ...

The Verse City League Tournament!

Round one is over! But what's this?

A tie in the final bout of round one has restructured the tournament. Neither team qualified to move on so Team Fiery Death Explosion has been seeded into the semi-finals.

But let's focus on Round 2! Again we have two teams of three fight the other inside our randomly generated arena. A team wins when the opposing team is completely defeated either by KO, Death, or Submission.

Team members will work together as a team and as always, each combatant will have their respective powers and equipment that they can carry into the ring. No outside help or influence is allowed. And there is no prior knowledge of their opponents unless they’ve encountered each other prior to coming to Verse City.

Which team will advance? Time for you to decide!

[Team Hermit] - Nick Fury, Master Roshi, Tarzan

VS

[Team Justice] - Jonathan Joestar, Lemillion, Scarlet Spider (Ben Reilly)

Roshi has some great feats (especially if we go Manga Roshi who avoids a few strikes from Jiren (who was certainly holding back due to the tourney's no killing rule)) and his paralysis and hypnosis techniques could work against Lemillion.

Nick Fury and Jonathan stack up pretty comprably and I see it as a toss up.

Scarlet can plow through everyone except Roshi. Roshi has been so inconsistently characterized I do not know. I could see him losing to all three, but I can also see him beating all three.

I lean team Justice with Roshi as the last hermit standing.

So Lemillion could maybe win if he were to immediately go intangible and then attack Roshi with some intangibility shenanigan, but otherwise his team is going to lose. Even base Roshi at the beginning of Dragon Ball was a moon buster, and he gets much stronger from there because of Dragon Ball's lazy power scaling. Roshi as he is now in Super could casually destroy the other team without really much effort

Here's the thing though is going by Anime, Roshi doesn't scale up from Dragonball. He remains a moon buster, but Super showed us that Roshi has major stamina issues. Keep in mind Roshi's moonbusting feat involved him powering up and charging his Kamehameha. He is not like say Piccolo who can blow up the moon in an instant. With Scarlet, Roshi cannot spend time charging.

I think, despite Roshi's postion in this match, his team is the lesser here. Nick and Tarzan would have a tough time with any combatant from Team Justice. Even with Roshi and Nick's leadership skill, I don't think they can overcome the ability and powers of the challenges. Roshi makes this close, but his focus will be on Lemillion and Spider first and that could cost him the fight.
