leroypowell3
Whatever they're deal is these dudes look cool. I'm guessing Mindflayer is the psi so Rakshasa is the mage. I'll look at them and cast a vote.
Peypeypeypey
1 on 1, a Rakshasa would eviscerate a Mindflayer, at least in 5e. A Rakshasa's CR is almost twice that of a Mindflayer (7 vs 13), and while the Mindflayer's regular attacks are stronger, the Rakshasa has far more useful spells, a higher AC, and resistance to any spells the Mind Flayer can use. Scenario 2 goes to the Rakshasa too. Again, his spells are far more useful for tricking the adventurers. In a fight, Rakshasa's aren't all that great, but they would be far better at leading the adventurers on a wild goose chase. The last one goes to the Mind Flayers, though. They're far more numerous and organized, and already known to be able to work and fight together well

Mindflayers were a tough enemy I recall, mainly due to their powers seeming to obliterate the parties.

Didn't realise there was such a gap - the mindlfayers always seemed to "otherworldly", and their psionics took out mages like they were nothing.
