Megastory 3.14

Previously: In an attempt to destroy Khan Nooninen Sing and his organization, the United Nations sent in Stormwatch backed by the Robotech Defense Force. They were not aware the Khan had already been defeated by Baron Zemo and that Zemo was now absorbing Khan’s assets.

Zemo sent General Miles Mayhem along with the Marine Doomguy to oversee the takeover. Master Asia, who was running the training camp cooperated and they hunkered down as Stormwatch and the Robotech Defense Force attacked.

“Child Soldiers.” That’s what kept going through Rick Hunter’s mind.

The Robotech Defense Force went into this battle knowing they wouldn’t win. Intelligence reported that Khan had child soldiers training with Gundams. Gundams were pretty much the most powerful mecha on Earth. Robotechnology was a great comparison but on purpose, the developers kept the power levels of their machines down. There was wisdom in not creating a war machine so powerful that it would be overly devastating to have it fall into the wrong hands.

Understanding that they were no match for their enemies Rick had his fighters go in with a different kind of plan. Pick a Gundam target. Keep them busy. Don’t die.

The one that Rick targeted was quite talented. Once this pilot got some experience under his belt he could take out a whole squadron of veritechs. As it stood, Rick’s training and experience kept him in the fight.

The Gundam lacked flight ability. So Rick had maneuverability advantage. The Gundam had a beam saber. Rick’s veritech didn’t. As long as he kept his distance that wouldn’t be a problem.

An added strategy that the Robotech Defense Force used was hit and run. Rick kept his Gundam opponent focused on him while his wingman, Max Sterling hit him from another angle.

Frustrated at their superior tactics the Gundam pilot Amuro Ray glared at his controls as functions gave out.

“This doesn’t make since!” on of the other Gundam pilots complained. “We should be killing these guys?”

Amarou replied. “Master Asia would chastise us for not using our power! Banasher! Activate your destroy mode!”

Even among the Gundams, Bansher Links’ Unicorn Gundam was one of the most powerful.

It got its name because of the single horn protruding from the front of its head. However, once Banasher activated the destroy mode, parts all over the body started to split showing a orangish glow beneath the new openings. The single horn on the head split into the more traditional two antenna facing opposite directions.

With its new dispensation, The unicorn Gundam was amazingly faster and any advantage the Robotech fighters’ tactics had disappeared as three verhitechs were shot down in one motion.

Although he hated to see men die, Battalion had been waiting for this.

The plan all along was to come in in waves. Stormwatch one would kick things off. Stormwatch two would come in once resistance got too heavy. The Robotech Defense Force was the mecha support needed if the Gundams got brought out. Now that the Gunadams upped the ante, it was time for the big guy.

“Koju! You’re up!”

Koju Kabuto had been waiting for this. He spent a lot of time on standby. That was because he piloted the Mazinger Z.

A giant robot of immense power, the Mazinger was a Kaiju level threat responder. It was capable of outlandish collateral damage so when the U.N. recruited the mecha, they were contracted not to utilize it outside of certain parameters.

Kaiju, of course. Extraterrestrial assaults. No other options. And of course against other mecha.

Knowing that they would be facing Gundams, Stormwatch made sure the Mazinger Z was available.

Once on site, Koju’s mecha drew all the attention. Everyone knew that it anything was going to destroy this thing it would be the Unicorn.

The Gundam squared off with the Mazinger and their duel began.

Fight Parameters:

Battle till one is destroyed. Ignore the larger battle around them.

Another good story, leroy. You really seem to know the Gundam/etc. universe.

After looking up both mechs, I'm thinking the Unicorn Gundam just may have the edge. It just seems to be a more advanced model of mech.
